The Army Multi-Domain ISR Operations and Systems department, part of MITRE's Army Program Division within MITRE National Security, is dedicated to advancing the Army's capabilities in intelligence collection, processing, actionable decision-making, and electromagnetic operations, including disrupting adversary systems and enhancing operational effectiveness.
The department supports the Army's efforts to design, deliver, and sustain cutting-edge technologies that strengthen multi-domain intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations across a range of mission areas, including Electronic Warfare, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), intelligence targeting systems, ISR sensors, assured Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), electromagnetic situational awareness, and non-kinetic effects.

Job Description:
The Army Multi-Domain ISR Operations and Systems department is seeking a Lead Engineer/ Scientist focused on technical areas that include:
Sensor systems, including airborne radar and counter-battery radar systems
Integrated electronic warfare tactics and effects
Signal processing
RF hardware integration
Software development
Antennas and electromagnetics
Roles and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will develop innovative electronic warfare (EW) techniques to counter advanced radar and communications threats found on the modern battlefield. The work requires an in-depth understanding of radar, communications, and navigation systems, along with the ability to identify and exploit associated vulnerabilities through electromagnetic attack.
Candidates will work as part of a team to develop signal processing approaches and then proto@type these methods to demonstrate feasibility. They must have background in RF technologies, including antennas and software-defined receivers, and demonstrate the ability to lead and manage hardware and software development teams to rapidly implement candidate EW techniques.
The successful candidate will serve as the deputy project leader on a growing science and technology work program. Specific responsibilities include:
Partnering with sponsors and industry to develop, test, and transition solutions that meet military operational needs by identifying technical challenges and leading engineering activities to deliver effective capabilities.
Collaborating with software developers, radio frequency (RF) engineers, systems integrators, and government stakeholders to deliver end-to-end capabilities on aggressive timelines.
Leading system-level integration, verification, and validation of software-defined radio (SDR)-based EW/SIGINT mission systems.
Defining and managing system architecture, interfaces, and data flows across compute platforms, RF front ends, storage, and networking.
Developing and maintaining test plans, interface control documents, verification procedures, and acceptance criteria for multi-component proto@types.
Supporting field exercises, demonstrations, and sponsor engagements; capturing results; and driving technical closure of issues.
Establishing strong relationships within the sponsor organization and identifying opportunities to collaborate with other government agencies to maximize mission impact.
Regularly engaging with stakeholders in Aberdeen, MD, as required.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, who can immediately contribute; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field
Background in signal processing and RF technology, with a working knowledge of radar and communications systems.
Hands-on experience integrating and testing complex systems involving SDRs/RF components, embedded compute, networking, and mission software.
Proficiency in one or more of: Python, C/C++, or Matlab.
Experience with modern software practices and tooling (e.g., Git/GitLab, containerization such as Docker, CI/CD/DevSecOps, and Agile methodologies).
Ability to lead and manage engineering teams and develop enduring sponsor relationships.
Active DoD Secret security clearance with ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements for a clearance, U.S. Citizenship is required.
This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
M.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with demonstrated experience in software development or hardware/software integration.
Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Strong grasp of systems engineering practices, including requirements decomposition and traceability, test planning, and interface definition.
Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, software, networking and RF layers.
