Performs as marine communications coordinator for a marine unit transporting crew members, public vehicles and passengers. Work requires frequent contact with private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Essential Duties:Answers public inquiries and provides ferry schedule information.Coordinates emergency responses with local, county, state, and federal agencies.Assists with ferry operational and maintenance coordination.Coordinates priority boarding for emergency and authorized vehicles.Maintains continuous communication with operational ferries using VHF-FM marine radio systems.Operates traffic control systems, signs, signals, and barricades.Maintains operational logs and activity records.Coordinates after-hours delivery of supplies, repair parts, and equipment.Performs ferryboat deckhand duties as needed.Transmits and receives routine and emergency communications.Other duties as assignedMarine Communication Coordinator IIIn addition to MMC I duties, the MMC II may:Assists in coordinating traffic control activities with local law enforcement agencies.Assists in overseeing priority vehicle boarding operations.Assists in monitoring physical security inspections of ferry facilities and vessels.Assists in monitoring employee arrivals and departures.Assists in overseeing radio, landline, and communications systems.Assists in coordinating passenger and vehicle flow through ferry operations.Coordinates administrative and maintenance requirements for ferry vessels.Supports operational readiness and communications reliability.
