Position Title: Principal Account Clerk

Department: School of Art & Design

Term of Assignment: Continuing

Term End Date, If Applicable:

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt = overtime eligible

Work Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Salary: Hourly rate: $17.50

Travel: No travel

Brief Statement of Duties

Brief Statement of Duties: Provide bookkeeping services for the School of Art and Design, DeVos Art Museum, and the NMU Purchasing Co-op, which includes maintaining financial records and accounts, providing financial statements, assisting in budget maintenance, and performing day-to-day financial transactions for students. Manage the artworks store. Provide clerical services for the Art and Design main office and the DeVos Art Museum. Assist students when needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent

Required Minimum Work Experience: Three years of office work experience with primary duties in bookkeeping/accounting. Advanced experience with Excel software. Experience with bookkeeping software.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:

Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and the reporting of financial data. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. Time management skills. Critical thinking skills. Excellent oral and written communication and comprehension skills. Ability to multi-task. Ability to process complex budget/financial actions, including monitoring and providing recommendations for improvements.

Additional Desirable Qualifications

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

Experience with Apple computer platform. Experience with financial reporting systems. Experience with point-of-sale systems.
