Job Title: Software Engineer - Robotics and Clinical Applications
Job Description
The Software Engineer develops foundational software components that power robotics and enabling technology applications within clinical environments. This role covers the full software development lifecycle, including research, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of shared software components used across pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative clinical application architectures. As an individual contributor, you apply professional judgment and deep technical expertise to deliver robust, feature-complete solutions that support multiple domains and applications.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain source code for shared data management components that integrate with pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative clinical application architectures.
Perform research and analysis to inform the design and implementation of foundational software components for robotics and enabling technology applications.
Participate fully in software development lifecycle (SDLC) activities, including code reviews, documentation, integration, testing, defect management, and code analysis.
Ensure all software components are feature complete and meet defined requirements, design specifications, and quality standards.
Implement and maintain data architectures, including data models, formats, schemas, and databases that support clinical applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software components into broader clinical systems and workflows.
Use integrated development environments (IDEs), build systems, and revision control tools to develop, build, and release software efficiently.
Apply continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices to maintain reliable and repeatable build and deployment pipelines.
Develop and execute unit tests as part of the standard development workflow to ensure code quality and reliability.
Work independently with minimal supervision, applying attention to detail and sound judgment when analyzing factual information and making evaluative decisions.
Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation for software components, data architectures, and development processes.
Contribute to ongoing maintenance and improvement of existing components, including troubleshooting, bug fixing, and performance optimization.
Essential Skills
Solid background working with C++ and Qt in a Linux environment.
Proficiency in C++ development, including modern language features and best practices.
Hands-on experience working in Linux-based development and runtime environments.
Experience with Python scripting and automation to support development and testing workflows.
Knowledge of SQL and SQLite databases for data storage, querying, and management.
Demonstrated experience managing data architecture, including data models, formats, schemas, and databases.
Experience working with 3D geometry in software applications.
Proficiency with integrated development environments (IDEs) and build systems, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Experience using revision control systems and following CI/CD development practices.
Familiarity with unit testing frameworks and incorporating unit tests into the development process.
Familiarity with data serialization and interchange formats, such as JSON.
University degree or equivalent education in a relevant discipline.
Minimum of 2 or more years of professional experience in software engineering or a closely related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with CAD modeling and mesh processing in support of 3D geometry workflows.
Ability to work as an individual contributor, applying professional expertise and independent judgment.
Strong attention to detail when analyzing factual information and making evaluative judgments.
Comfort working across multiple domains and applications, particularly in clinical and robotics-related @contexts.
Ability to create clear, concise technical documentation for complex software components and data architectures.
