Job Description
This Senior Electrical Engineer role serves as the primary technical lead in a high voltage laboratory environment, overseeing testing, data acquisition, and system development activities. The position focuses on designing and supporting electrical circuits and systems for high voltage applications while driving continuous improvement of lab procedures, test methods, and equipment. You will guide engineers and technicians, ensure high-quality testing and documentation, and leverage your expertise in circuit design, data acquisition, and either power electronics or programming to enhance the lab's capabilities.
Responsibilities
Lead high voltage lab operations and act as the primary technical resource and team lead.
Design, test, and support electrical circuits and systems for high voltage applications.
Conduct laboratory testing, collect and analyze data, and prepare detailed technical reports.
Develop, implement, and maintain lab procedures, test methods, and documentation.
Diagnose and repair electrical systems, circuits, and test setups to ensure reliable operation.
Oversee and support lab maintenance activities, including calibration and system upgrades.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance lab capabilities and testing efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support engineering and testing requirements.
Mentor and guide engineers and technicians working within the lab environment.
Ensure high attention to detail in all testing activities, documentation, and reporting.
Essential Skills
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on circuit design and data acquisition.
Hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably a high voltage lab.
Strong practical experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other electrical lab equipment.
Proven background in circuit design, troubleshooting, and electrical testing.
Experience in either power electronics or programming, with the ability to apply this expertise to lab systems and testing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting test data and resolving technical issues.
Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey technical information clearly.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical efforts and serve as a technical point of contact.
High attention to detail in test setup, execution, and documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience leading teams or acting as a technical lead in an engineering or lab environment.
Experience working specifically in high voltage testing environments.
Strong background in both power electronics and programming.
Experience improving lab systems, processes, or automation to increase efficiency and reliability.
Previous experience mentoring and developing engineers or technicians.
Familiarity with high voltage components such as fuses, isolators, and protection circuits.
Experience developing and refining test procedures for electrical and high voltage systems.
Work Environment
This role operates within a dedicated high voltage laboratory environment focused on electrical and high voltage testing. You will work daily with specialized lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, high voltage test setups, and associated data acquisition systems. The position involves hands-on work with electrical circuits, protection circuits, fuses, isolators, and power electronics, as well as the use of programming tools to support system development and automation. The environment emphasizes safety, precision, and adherence to well-defined test procedures and documentation standards. You will collaborate closely with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams in a setting that values continuous improvement, technical leadership, and rigorous testing practices.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Prospect, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
