Job Title: Battery Manufacturing Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on producing battery slurries at pilot-line scale for proto@type and manufacturing activities within a laboratory and production environment. You will work as part of the slurry production team, operating industrial mixing equipment, performing routine quality control testing, and supporting process experiments to optimize battery cell performance. The position suits a detail-oriented, hands-on technician who is comfortable with manual tasks, hazardous chemicals, and standard lab safety practices, and who can occasionally start the workday before 8 a.m.
Responsibilities
Produce pilot-line scale battery slurries using industrial mixing and Pilot Line machinery.
Operate mixers and related equipment to handle large-scale batches, including 50L slurry production.
Perform manual tasks such as lifting materials and equipment weighing up to 25 kg as part of the production process.
Use respirators and follow proper procedures when working with hazardous chemicals and slurry materials.
Conduct routine quality control tests using material characterization tools to ensure slurry and product consistency.
Perform inspections and quality assurance checks on materials and equipment during and after production runs.
Clean mixing equipment, tools, and workstations promptly after slurry production runs to maintain cleanliness and readiness.
Manage inventory of manufacturing consumables by tracking usage, maintaining stock levels, and supporting ordering processes.
Maintain safe, tidy, and organized work areas, adhering to cleanroom and lab housekeeping standards.
Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all production, safety, and quality control activities.
Support guided experiments aimed at defining optimal process parameters for battery cell performance and manufacturing capabilities.
Follow experimental plans, prepare samples, operate instruments, and accurately record data during process experimentation.
Assist with general laboratory tasks such as pipetting, weighing materials, and preparing samples for testing or production.
Operate production and machine equipment safely and reliably in a semiconductor and cleanroom-style environment.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot process issues and improve reliability, consistency, and throughput.
Essential Skills
Hands-on manufacturing experience in production, industrial equipment operation, or Pilot Line work.
Ability to mix large-scale slurries, including operating mixers and handling batches up to 50L.
Comfort performing manual tasks such as lifting materials up to 25 kg.
Familiarity with chemistry lab safety, including respirator use and hazardous chemical handling.
Strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
Experience performing routine quality control testing using material characterization tools.
Demonstrated reliability, strong attention to detail, and consistent execution of processes.
Experience with inspection, quality assurance, and machine operation in a production or lab setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Exposure to lithium-ion battery fabrication, including mixing, coating, or cell assembly.
General laboratory experience such as pipetting, weighing, sample preparation, and instrument operation.
Experience supporting process experimentation by following experimental plans and accurately recording data.
Familiarity with inventory management, including tracking consumables and maintaining adequate stock levels.
Background in cleanroom or semiconductor production environments.
Comfort working in a pilot-line or R&D lab setting with evolving processes and procedures.

Work Environment
This is a full-time, onsite position based in San Leandro, CA, within a pilot-line battery manufacturing and R&D lab environment. You will work around industrial mixing equipment, material characterization instruments, and other production machinery, often in cleanroom or semiconductor-style conditions. The role involves handling hazardous chemicals with appropriate safety gear, including respirators, and performing manual tasks such as lifting items up to 25 kg. Standard operating procedures and lab safety protocols guide daily activities, and maintaining a safe, tidy, and organized workspace is essential. Work hours are generally daytime, with preferred flexibility to start before 8 a.m. twice a week.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
