Job Title: Customer Service Specialist
Job Description
The Customer Service Specialist is responsible for selling industrial hose and gasket products to business and industrial customers over the telephone and internet, while maintaining and growing existing accounts. This role manages day-to-day customer interactions, processes sales and purchase orders, and coordinates custom, non-standard, value-added solutions to meet customer needs. The specialist uses the company's computer systems to enter orders, set up part numbers, manage contract files, and ensure accurate and timely communication between customers, vendors, and internal account managers.
Responsibilities
Sell industrial hose and gasket products to business and industrial customers and maintain ongoing customer accounts.
Handle incoming customer orders by phone and over the internet, providing timely and accurate information.
Enter sales orders, purchase orders, and product quotes into the computer system with a high level of accuracy.
Highlight key product features, quote prices and credit terms, and prepare detailed sales orders for all orders obtained.
Estimate delivery dates based on knowledge of production schedules, delivery timelines, and current inventory levels.
Prepare and maintain reports of business transactions in the company database to ensure accurate account records.
Collaborate with account managers to keep account activities up to date and support overall account strategy.
Investigate and resolve customer issues related to deliveries, ensuring prompt and professional resolution.
Source custom, non-standard, value-added solutions to address specific customer problems and requirements.
Set up part numbers and manage contract files within the computer system to support efficient order processing.
Essential Skills
Strong customer service skills with the ability to manage heavy phone and internet correspondence with customers and vendors.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools such as Word for daily administrative and sales-related tasks.
Ability to accurately enter orders, quotes, and transactional data into computer systems.
Math, measurement, and material calculation skills, including the ability to accurately convert inches to feet and feet to inches.
Mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience in fabrication, assembly, industrial products, or related manufacturing environments.
Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve customer delivery issues and source custom solutions.
Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of the industrial hose and gasket industry is preferred.
Experience working in warehouse, retail, production, or order fulfillment environments is beneficial.
Comfort using hand and power tools, tape measures, and other basic fabrication tools.
Forklift experience is a plus in supporting warehouse and material handling activities.
Ability to work collaboratively with account managers and other team members to support customer accounts.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
