Job Summary
PERA is seeking a Knowledge Management Specialist to join our Communications and Stakeholder Engagement team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a creative group of communications professionals dedicated to developing high-quality content and resources used by PERA employees every day. In this role, you will help ensure staff have access to the information and tools they need to provide exceptional service to PERA members-public employees and retirees who rely on PERA for their retirement benefits. Through clear, accessible, and informative resources, you will play an important role in supporting our mission and enhancing the member experience.
Specifics
The Knowledge Management Specialist Intermediate is a member of the Communications and Stakeholder Engagement (CSE) department, reporting to the CSE department supervisor. Under limited supervision, this position administers the PERA's knowledge management system, develops communications content, and serves as the agency's digital accessibility coordinator.
The incumbent independently administers PERA's knowledge management system, KnowledgeOwl, to ensure internal documentation is maintained and updated. This role develops and edits content on the knowledge management system. Editors of the knowledge management system report to this role.
The incumbent writes, edits, and proofreads content to produce standard print or digital communications for targeted internal and external audiences. The position uses communication strategies, practices, and laws to write and edit content, including financial reports, educational materials, policies, procedures, agency forms, letters, and training materials.
This position is telework eligible and offers a hybrid work schedule, based on agency and department needs. Scheduled in-office workdays will be at the PERA office, 60 Empire Drive, Suite 200, St. Paul, Minnesota.
Candidates residing in Minnesota within 50 miles of our St Paul office may be eligible to telework up to 50%.
Candidates residing in Minnesota and more than 50 miles from our office may be eligible to telework more than 50%.
Candidates residing in a bordering state within 50 miles of our office may be eligible to telework up to 50%.
Candidates who do not reside in Minnesota or within 50 miles of the office in a state bordering Minnesota are not eligible to be hired, unless planning to relocate within 50 miles of the office or report to the office full time.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) year's of experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or public relations.
Experience must clearly demonstrate the following:
Skills in writing, editing, and publishing online content.
Experience using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Teams) or comparable software.
Experience with proofreading and reviewing communication materials for publication.
Experience developing and designing accessible documents and publications using Microsoft Office software, Adobe Creative Cloud software, or other graphic design medias.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or Public Relations
Experience using or administering the Knowledge Owl knowledge management system or comparable system
Experience communicating public policy materials using plain language. Examples include financial reports, educational materials, policies, procedures, agency forms, letters, and training materials.
