Avionics Technician
Job Description
The Avionics Technician performs efficient maintenance, inspection, installation, modification, and repair of electrical and avionics systems on assigned fixed-wing aircraft. This role involves troubleshooting and testing complex avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to verify performance and airworthiness. The technician interprets manufacturers' manuals, operators' handbooks, and related technical documentation to diagnose issues and apply comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems. Ensuring aircraft airworthiness and safety is the highest priority in all tasks.
Responsibilities
Perform maintenance, inspection, installation, modification, and repair of all electrical and avionics systems on assigned aircraft using appropriate test equipment.
Troubleshoot complex avionic and electrical systems under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance, identify malfunctions, and verify airworthiness.
Test avionics and electrical components and systems, including GPS and pilot systems, to ensure proper operation and compliance with applicable standards.
Interpret and apply information from manufacturers' manuals, operators' handbooks, wiring diagrams, and other technical documents to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
Install, route, and terminate wiring and wire harnesses for avionics systems, ensuring proper configuration, secure connections, and adherence to specifications.
Perform avionics installation tasks, including mounting equipment, connecting wire harnesses, and integrating systems into aircraft electrical architectures.
Apply technical knowledge of avionics and electrical systems to determine root causes of equipment malfunctions and restore systems to full operation.
Conduct troubleshooting and repair activities on aircraft avionics, electrical systems, and related components, including FCC-related systems and radar equipment as applicable.
Verify that all work performed maintains or enhances aircraft airworthiness, safety, and reliability.
Document maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and repair activities in accordance with applicable procedures and standards.
Collaborate with other technicians and maintenance personnel in hangar and training environments to complete projects efficiently and safely.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 3 years of avionics experience or electrical/electronic experience on fixed-wing aircraft.
Strong hands-on experience with aircraft avionics systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
Proficiency in working with aircraft wiring and wire harnesses, including routing, installation, and termination.
Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and avionics systems using a variety of test equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions.
Comprehensive technical knowledge of avionics and electrical systems used on fixed-wing aircraft.
Skill in interpreting manufacturers' manuals, operators' handbooks, wiring diagrams, and related technical documentation.
Aircraft Electronics Technician (AET) certification.
FCC license with radar endorsement.
Commitment to prioritizing aircraft airworthiness and safety in all maintenance and installation activities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with GPS and pilot systems on aircraft.
Experience in avionics installation, including FCC-related systems.
Ability to work effectively in hangar environments and adapt to different aircraft platforms.
Strong attention to detail in wiring, wire harness installation, and system integration.
Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with other technicians and maintenance teams.

Work Environment
Technicians train initially at a facility in Crestview and then primarily work in a hangar environment in Andalusia. Work takes place in aircraft hangars around fixed-wing aircraft, using a variety of test equipment and tools for avionics and electrical systems. The environment involves hands-on work on aircraft structures, wiring, and components, with a strong focus on safety, adherence to procedures, and maintaining airworthiness. Technicians can expect a collaborative setting with other maintenance personnel and regular interaction with technical documentation and test equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Crestview, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.76 - $33.07/hr.
