Crops/Commodities: vegetables.

Primary duties (performed the majority of workdays): Grade, size, and sort product according to color, shape, size, appearance, feel, and/or quality, in accordance with supervisor\'s instructions and employer standards. Inspect products for damage/defects and discard inferior products and foreign matter. Handle product carefully to prevent damage. Workers will be expected to work among multiple places including the packing house, seed storage, the shop (not selling items, but doing farm based tasks) and potatoe storage on the farm. Operate equipment safely, with or without direction. Must follow quality control standards and production procedures. Clean/sanitize work station and equipment. Cleaning and fixing all bin storage areas and work space areas/buildings. Loading and unloading trucks and trailers, as well as sorting, fixing, making parts for boxes and pallets. Hanging bags and filling master bags for the conveyor belt. Workers will be expected to set up equipment and do general fixing of equipment. Workers will be asked to assist with other farm duties such as harvesting, planting, painting equipment, shoveling, scraping floors, sweeping, maintaining equipment and cleaning workspaces. Workers will be using the necessary tools to perform the job including trim knives, staple guns, power washer, nail guns, hammer, chop saws, hand jacks, welding, torch cutting and skill saw.Must have sufficient hand and finger dexterity to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. Must be able to differentiate colors, textures, and other attributes of product to distinguish varieties and identify defects. Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer\'s products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Workers will assist with maintaining equipment in the machine storage building. Workers with a clean driving record (no major moving violations such as but not limited to Driving While Intoxicated or Reckless Driving) and able to obtain an insurable driver\'s license may drive company vehicles. Workers with appropriate licenses may transport other workers to-and-from Jeffrey & Owen Smith, Inc provided housing directly to worksites each day and transporting workers around Jeffrey & Owen Smith, Inc farm during the workday and possibly carrying equipment/supplies and this may involve the worker(s) operating the vehicles across public roads in order to reach the other farm properties to perform their work. Workers are driving multi-purpose vehicles that have a capacity of less than 13 tons, require a standard driver\'s license to operate, may be used on or off farm by the workers (e.g., drive to the grocery store, bank, etc. at their discretion). Workers are not required or expected to arrange for the routine pick-up of another worker or groups of workers on a regular schedule at other housing locations or centralized pick-up points. Workers may be asked, but will not be required, to work hours on Saturday and Sunday. Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for the entire period requested by the employer. Applicants must be able to furnish verifiable job reference(s) or comparable third party documentation from recent employer(s) establishing acceptable prior experience. Job opportunity is Skill Level I. All primary duties are entry-level and require close supervision and/or a short demonstration of the task by a more experienced worker. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker\'s Sabbath or federal holidays. Workermust report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors.

This job requires a minimum of 2 months of verifiable agricultural experience working in a agricultural packing operation handling both manual and mechanized tasks associated with production of vegetables. Applicants must be able to furnish verifiable job reference(s) or comparable third party documentation from recent employer(s) establishing acceptable prior experience. Workers may be asked, but will not be required, to work hours on Saturday and Sunday.Must be able to lift/carry 60 lbs.
