Job Title: Cook / Prep Cook

Job Summary: Responsible for preparing and cooking food items according to recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines. Assists with food preparation, kitchen organization, and maintaining a clean and efficient work environment. Works as part of a team to ensure timely preparation and service of meals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, measuring, and portioning food items.

Cook menu items according to recipes, presentation standards, and customer orders.

Assist with meal preparation, including assembling dishes, preparing sauces, and stocking ingredients.

Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of food preparation areas, equipment, and storage areas.

Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures.

Monitor food quality, freshness, and portion control.

Store food properly and label/date items as required.

Assist with inventory checks and restocking supplies.

Wash dishes, clean workstations, and assist with closing duties as needed.

Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications:

Previous kitchen, cooking, or food preparation experience preferred but not required.

Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Knowledge of food safety practices preferred.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move kitchen supplies and equipment.

Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the shift.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Ability to work in a kitchen environment with heat, noise, and varying temperatures.

Schedule/Work Environment:

May include evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on business needs.

Work is performed in a restaurant setting.
