Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Electrician Job Description
The Industrial Maintenance Electrician troubleshoots, repairs, installs, and maintains electrical and automated manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This role supports production by reducing equipment downtime through preventive and predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. The position works extensively with PLC-controlled systems, motors, drives, electrical distribution equipment, and plant support systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, and automated manufacturing equipment to support continuous production.
Diagnose equipment failures using meters, electrical diagnostic equipment, diagnostic software, schematics, and technical documentation.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production machinery and facility systems to minimize unplanned downtime.
Install, repair, and maintain motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), sensors, control panels, power distribution systems, and related electrical equipment.
Troubleshoot PLC-controlled machinery and automated systems to restore proper operation.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals to plan and execute repairs and installations.
Support equipment upgrades, new installations, and continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing reliability and performance.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and repair documentation in accordance with company standards.
Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and manufacturing processes.
Ensure strict compliance with OSHA regulations, electrical codes, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and company safety standards.
Participate in emergency repairs and respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and production downtime situations.
Assist with inventory control and spare parts management to ensure critical components are available when needed.
Perform work safely around 480V, 3-phase electrical systems and industrial controls.
Follow established procedures for working at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving machinery and conveyors.
Essential Skills
High School Diploma or GED.
Journeyman Electrician License, electrical certification, technical degree, or equivalent industrial experience.
Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting 480V, 3-phase electrical systems.
Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, relays, and industrial control systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.
Strong understanding of electrical safety practices, OSHA requirements, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Proficiency with multimeters and other electrical diagnostic equipment.
Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of industrial automation and manufacturing processes.
Ability to perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and recurring issues.
Effective communication and teamwork skills to work with cross-functional production and maintenance teams.
Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to safety.
Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced production environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and reach frequently during the workday.
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required.
Willingness and ability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call schedules as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate Degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
Industrial automation and robotics experience.
Welding and fabrication skills.
Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Experience using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for work orders and maintenance records.

Work Environment
