Job Title: 1st Shift Shipping Clerk / Warehouse Worker Job Description

In this role, you support daily shipping and receiving operations by handling inventory, preparing orders for shipment, and working with material handling equipment in a fast-paced warehouse environment. You work primarily on the 1st shift with early morning start times and must remain flexible to accommodate overtime and changing business needs.
Responsibilities
Receive incoming materials, restock inventory, and manage overstock areas to ensure accurate inventory levels.
Load and unload materials from trucks safely and efficiently using appropriate material handling methods.
Break down boxes and package items for shipment according to company standards and customer requirements.
Use rolling stairs, order pickers, and RF scanners to locate, pick, and fulfill orders for automotive parts.
Pick orders from various warehouse locations, including elevated areas accessed by rolling safety ladders ranging from approximately 7 to 15 steps.
Package items securely for shipment, ensuring correct labeling and documentation.
Assist warehouse supervisors with daily tasks and special projects as needed to support overall warehouse operations.
Perform shipping and receiving functions, including verifying counts, checking product accuracy, and organizing shipments in designated areas.
Operate pallet jacks and other non-powered material handling equipment to move products throughout the facility.
Maintain a clean and organized work area by breaking down empty boxes, disposing of waste, and keeping aisles clear.
Follow all safety procedures while working with ladders, equipment, and heavy materials.
Work both independently and as part of a team to meet productivity and accuracy goals in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills
Experience with shipping and receiving operations in a warehouse or distribution environment.
Hands-on experience with order picking, packing, and packaging of products for shipment.
Ability to use RF scanners for order picking and inventory transactions.
Experience using pallet jacks and basic material handling equipment.
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
Comfort working on rolling safety ladders approximately 5 to 7 steps high, and willingness to occasionally use ladders up to approximately 15 feet when needed for shipping.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods during the shift.
Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or squat to access materials and complete tasks.
Ability to speak, read, and write in English to follow instructions, safety guidelines, and documentation.
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work independently with self-motivation.
Reliability and flexibility to work mandatory overtime of up to 2 additional hours daily and occasional Saturdays as required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Prior experience working in an automotive parts distribution or manufacturing environment.
Previous experience with warehouse inventory management and order picking processes.
Familiarity with shipping and receiving documentation and basic inventory control.
Interest in learning forklift operation, with future training opportunities available after direct hire.
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order fulfillment and inventory handling.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support various warehouse tasks as needed.

Work Environment
You work in a busy warehouse and distribution facility that manufactures and ships automotive parts. The noise level is usually high due to forklifts and other machinery operating throughout the facility, so you should be comfortable working in a loud environment. This is a 1st shift position, Monday through Friday, with mandatory overtime of up to 2 hours daily and occasional Saturday work. Typical start times are 5:30 AM or 6:30 AM, with end times around 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM, and you must remain flexible within this schedule. You regularly use RF scanners, rolling safety ladders, and pallet jacks to perform order picking and inventory tasks, including climbing stairs to reach elevated storage locations. The role is physically active, requiring frequent standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials throughout the shift. The dress code includes a plain shirt with no logos related to alcohol, jeans without holes, and closed-toe shoes to support safety and professionalism on the warehouse floor.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
