This role offers an opportunity for an early-career engineer to support the design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of critical telecommunications and IP network infrastructure in a utility environment. You will work closely with senior engineers to ensure the reliability and performance of communication systems that support operational technology and enterprise networks. The position is ideal for candidates with a solid engineering foundation, hands-on experience with router troubleshooting and debugging, and a strong interest in growing a career in utility telecommunications. Experience with Nokia Service Routers is highly desirable, and recent electrical engineering graduates are encouraged to apply, as comprehensive training is available.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues involving telecommunications networks and IP routing infrastructure.
Debug network performance issues, outages, and connectivity problems within enterprise and operational technology environments.
Configure, support, and maintain routers, switches, and associated network equipment to ensure reliable operation.
Assist with the design, implementation, upgrade, and maintenance of telecommunications and IP network projects.
Analyze network performance data and identify opportunities to optimize efficiency, capacity, and reliability.
Work closely with senior engineers to support telecommunications systems that are critical to utility operations.
Create, update, and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and technical procedures.
Support testing, commissioning, and validation activities for network equipment and communication systems.
Collaborate with internal engineering, operations, and field teams to investigate and resolve technical issues.
Participate in on-call support or outage response activities as required to maintain network availability.
Essential Skills
Foundational knowledge of telecommunications networks and IP routing concepts.
Hands-on experience troubleshooting and debugging routers or similar network devices.
Ability to configure and support routers, switches, and associated network equipment.
Understanding of network performance, connectivity, and reliability principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing complex technical issues.
Ability to read, create, and maintain technical documentation and network diagrams.
Effective collaboration skills for working with engineering, operations, and field teams.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline, or equivalent foundational engineering education.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience configuring Nokia Service Routers is highly desirable.
Exposure to electrical or substation environments is beneficial.
Interest in utility telecommunications and operational technology networks.
Willingness to learn and grow under the guidance of senior engineers.
Recent college graduates in Electrical Engineering are encouraged to apply, as training is provided.
Ability to participate in on-call rotations or outage response when needed.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
