Summary You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICAL (MECHANICAL) in the TECH SUPPORT MECH DIV-MECH UTIL TECH (PW631) of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC. Responsibilities You will perform visual and predictive maintenance inspections and assessments of mechanical utility facilities, distribution systems, and equipment using tools such as thermography, infra-red, sonic testing, and dyes. You will document discrepancies/findings, analyze data and observation using qualitative and quantitative techniques, and provide remediation recommendations, scopes of work, and cost estimates. You will develop preventive maintenance standards, job plans, and frequencies for utilities assets. You will identify projects, collect data, develop cost estimates, review plans and specifications, monitor construction progress, perform quality control inspections, and recommend changes that may alter basic design and involve additional costs. You will interpret considerable, incomplete, or conflicting data in solving problems impacting mechanical utility system performance. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing technical execution of facility or construction projects by interpreting and applying practical engineering methods, unified facilities criteria (UFC), building codes, and safety regulations to resolve unprecedented technical challenges; 2) Directing the technical integration of multi-disciplinary project plans (including architectural, mechanical, and civil) while serving as the technical authority for mechanical utility systems and design specifications; 3) Collecting data pertaining to the scope of work, independent government cost estimates (IGCEs), comprehensive technical specifications, and master project schedules utilizing specialized project management and cost-estimating software; and 4) Providing advice, recommending solutions, and assisting on technical matters requiring extensive knowledge of engineering practices and thermal production operation and maintenance.
