Job Title: Junior Electrical Engineer
Job Description
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a early-career professional in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology to gain hands-on experience with board-level electronics and board layout in a collaborative lab environment. You will support the design, assembly, and testing of electronic hardware while building strong foundational skills in electronics, electrical systems, and ECAD tools. The position is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a desire to develop a long-term career in board-level electronic design.
Responsibilities
Build, assemble, and verify electrical cable harnesses in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
Perform quality checks and testing on electrical harnesses and components to ensure reliability and proper functionality.
Support the shipping, handling, and organization of electrical assemblies and lab materials to maintain an efficient lab environment.
Create and update basic electrical drawings and documentation to support ongoing projects and sustaining engineering activities.
Assist engineers and team members with lab activities, including test setup, measurement, and data collection.
Read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams to support assembly, troubleshooting, and design tasks.
Provide general support for sustaining engineering efforts across multiple projects, contributing to continuous improvement and product support.
Support board layout and board-level electronics activities, including working with printed circuit board designs.
Utilize ECAD tools to assist with electrical design, board layout, and documentation of electronic hardware.
Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate execution of lab work and timely completion of project tasks.
Participate in hands-on electrical work focused on board-level electronic design rather than control box design.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field, or an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and diagrams.
Exposure to circuit board design through work experience, school projects, or internships.
Basic skills in electrical assembly, including working with cable harnesses and electronic components.
Foundational knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals, electronics, and circuit design.
Experience or exposure to laboratory testing and lab environments.
Familiarity with at least one ECAD tool for electrical design and documentation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
Demonstrated strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to perform hands-on tasks.
Effective communication and teamwork skills in a collaborative environment.
Ability to support board-level electronics activities and board layout work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Soldering experience or a willingness to learn soldering with provided training.
Exposure to embedded hardware through coursework, projects, or internships.
Familiarity with board-level electronics and printed circuit board assemblies.
Prior lab, internship, or hands-on project experience related to electronics or electrical systems.
Experience with ECAD tools such as Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro.
Interest in building a long-term career in board-level electronic design rather than control box design.
Motivation, dependability, and openness to taking on a variety of responsibilities in a growing team.
Experience in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related discipline.
Experience with electronic hardware design projects involving ECAD tools and board layout.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role in a lab-based environment where you will work directly with board-level electronics, cable harnesses, and electrical assemblies. You will spend much of your time in a hands-on setting, supporting lab testing, assembly, and board layout activities using ECAD tools and standard electronic lab equipment. The position offers a long-term opportunity with a schedule that aligns with an established holiday calendar and includes paid time off. You will work closely with a supportive team that emphasizes learning, development, and exposure to a variety of projects rather than being limited to a single assignment. The culture focuses on career growth, providing a path toward roles such as Electrical Engineer or Electronic Technician, and offers stability for those seeking to build a lasting career in the local area.
