How You Will Make An Impact

Communicate effectively with clients in-person, over the telephone, and via written communications to build trust and repeat business.

Work safely and follow customer and NTH safety programs in industrial, utility, and construction field environments.

Prepare and review contract documents, designs, and specifications for electrical power projects including electrical distribution, electrical substations, electrical generation, and renewable energy.

Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, and reports, including day to day correspondence.

Size, specify, and review approvals for a variety of electrical equipment.

Perform a variety of engineering analyses, calculations, and modeling with and without the use of engineering software including Load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and grounding.

Travel independently to customer sites and provide field engineering services, support, and troubleshooting.

Prepare documentation and test reports summarizing electrical testing activities, results, and recommendations.

Support electrical CAD design and electrical CAD standards work in a secondary role.

Work closely and coordinate design with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers.

Support development of design standards and standard operating procedures.

Be an early member of the NTH Electrical Division, with high potential for skill and career growth, mentorship, and impact on division culture.

What You Bring to the Team

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year university. Study concentration in electric power, controls, or renewable energy preferred.

Strong interest in pursuing professional licensure. Michigan PE licensure is a plus.

Ability to work independently and safely in utility, industrial, and construction environments.

Ability to read, understand, and create basic electrical drawings including one-lines, 3-lines, and control schematics.

Familiarity with electrical design deliverables including one-lines, schematics, grounding, equipment layouts, and engineering studies.

Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to work in a team environment as well as independently, demonstrated team-oriented approach to problem-solving, and strong interpersonal skills for contact with clients and fellow engineers/technicians.
