Community Health Assistant
Location: Largo, MD
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Pay Rate: $19.23/hour
Contract Length: 16-Week Contract (through the end of the year)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly organized and community-focused Community Health Assistant to support health outreach programs, educational initiatives, and community engagement efforts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys administrative coordination, interacting with the public, and helping support programs that positively impact community health and wellness. The Community Health Assistant will serve as a key administrative resource, supporting community events, health education programs, outreach initiatives, participant enrollment activities, and department operations. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with healthcare professionals, community organizations, and program participants while contributing to meaningful public health initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesCommunity Outreach & Event Coordination
Monitor department email inboxes and respond to community inquiries
Process and track community event, sponsorship, and outreach requests
Coordinate communication with internal departments regarding event participation
Schedule and distribute event confirmations and calendar invitations
Assist with event preparation, materials management, and logistics
Support community health fairs and special outreach events
Program Administration & Participant Support
Communicate with program participants regarding upcoming classes and events
Send reminder emails and distribute educational materials
Assist community members with enrollment processes and registration requirements
Organize and maintain participant records and documentation
Enter and track participant information within Google Sheets and other tracking systems
Provide general participant support and escalate concerns when necessary
Health Education Program Support
Track enrollment for community wellness and education programs
Conduct outreach efforts to recruit and engage participants
Coordinate attendance and participation records
Support onsite and virtual class logistics
Distribute surveys, evaluations, and feedback forms
Perform accurate data entry and reporting activities
Administrative Support
Maintain accurate records and program documentation
Manage email correspondence and phone communications
Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and administrative materials
Utilize Microsoft Office applications and online collaboration tools
Support special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
1-3 years of administrative, coordination, or office support experience
Experience interacting with community members, customers, patients, or program participants
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and accountability
Preferred Qualifications
Community outreach or community engagement experience
Event coordination experience
Healthcare or public health exposure
Project coordination experience
Experience managing participant databases or tracking systems

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.23 - $19.23/hr.
