Job Description:
We are seeking an expert Cloud Infrastructure Systems Engineer specializing in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure enablement, and automation tooling that accelerates application delivery across AWS environments. This role focuses exclusively on engineering cloud native capabilities, developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), building automation scripts, and creating tools, frameworks, and operational patterns that enhance and streamline mission application delivery and O&M. The ideal candidate demonstrates deep technical expertise in AWS cloud services, Linux/Unix engineering, IaC development, CI/CD integration, and cloud based platform engineering and design.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Engineering & Cloud Enablement
Engineer cloud native platform capabilities that accelerate mission application delivery and operations across AWS environments.
Design and implement reusable frameworks, IaC modules, automation tooling, and platform patterns that streamline operations workflows.
Build modular Terraform and CloudFormation IaC for standardized environment provisioning and cloud resource orchestration.
Develop platform level services, templates, and abstractions that simplify application onboarding and reduce operational overhead.
Automation & CI/CD Engineering
Develop Python, Bash, and Shell automation that eliminates manual processes and improves deployment consistency.
Engineer CI/CD pipeline enhancements (Jenkins, GitLab), including reusable pipeline modules and automated deployment patterns.
Integrate IaC, security controls, and cloud native services into CI/CD workflows to ensure consistent, compliant, repeatable application deployments.
Cloud Architecture & Cloud Native Engineering
Architect and implement AWS cloud native components (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS patterns, serverless frameworks).
Engineer containerization patterns (Docker, Helm) and platform level Kubernetes capabilities for application lifecycle management.
Provide SME level guidance on microservices enablement, cloud native operational patterns, and platform level abstractions.
Security, Compliance & Governance Engineering
Engineer security aligned IaC modules, cloud resource configurations, and platform controls that meet infrastructure governance requirements.
Integrate PKI, TLS/SSL, KMS, IAM roles/policies, and other security primitives into platform tooling and automation.
Produce security related engineering artifacts required for A&A/ATO processes.
Engineering Support & Collaboration
Partner with DevOps Engineers (I-III) to ensure platform capabilities meet operational needs and accelerate delivery.
Provide SME level guidance on cloud architecture, IaC patterns, automation design, and platform engineering best practices.
Contribute to engineering documentation, platform standards, reusable patterns, and technical guidance for development and operations teams.
Required Skills & Experience (What You Bring):
Lnux/Unix engineering, including platform level automation, configuration patterns, and cloud native OS abstractions.
AWS cloud engineering, with deep proficiency in EC2, S3, IAM, Security Groups, VPC, Lambda, SQS, STS, and cloud native architectural patterns.
AWS CLI proficiency for automation, IaC validation, and platform tooling.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development using Terraform and CloudFormation, including reusable modules and provisioning frameworks.
Automation scripting in Python, Bash, and Shell, focused on building tools, frameworks, and deployment automation.
ECI/CD engineering using Jenkins, and GitHub, including pipeline design and reusable pipeline components.
Kubernetes and Docker engineering, including Helm based deployment patterns and platform level orchestration.
Serverless and microservices engineering, including Lambda patterns and API Gateway integrations.
Cloud security engineering, including TLS/SSL, PKI, OpenSSL, IAM roles/policies, KMS integration, and security aligned IaC.
Database engineering with MySQL or similar platforms, focused on cloud native integration and automation.
Solr and Zookeeper in distributed environments (preferred, not required).
Engineering leadership, including mentoring DevOps Engineers (I-III), shaping platform standards, and advancing cloud native engineering practices.
