SUMMARY
The Grade Foreman plans, assigns, schedules, and supervises the work of assigned crew engaged in the construction project.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervise, coordinate, and schedule activities of the crew and project.
Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements, plan procedures, and ensure work is within plan/specification requirements.
Supervise one or more crews engaged in the construction, reconstruction, and maintenance of streets, highways, driveways, structures, and parking lots; including grading, excavation, basing, paving, and patching.
Supervise land leveling projects.
Assist with closeout documentation for each phase of the job as completed.
Inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met.
Locate, measure, and mark site locations or placement of structures or equipment.
Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities.
Maintain daily paperwork such as timecards, field reports, schedule updates and E-mail correspondence to keep the various people involved with the project informed of important issues.
Promote and maintain a culture that values safety, health and cleanliness.
Attend and participate in job site meetings to include weekly Toolbox Meeting with crew.
Assist the project team in building written work plans, job hazard analysis, and daily task reminders.
Estimate and coordinate material, equipment, and worker requirements to complete jobs; schedule and assign work accordingly to ensure production aligns with project goals.
Requisition materials and equipment.
Coordinate activities with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve obstacles.
Analyze worker or production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving production methods or implementing motivational plans; discipline and document worker issues.
Instruct and train employees in construction methods, safe operation of equipment, tools and job techniques, safety procedures, and company policies.
Maintain equipment in a high state of readiness through daily and proactive maintenance.
Suggest or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, hires, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, and documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
achelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering; 5+ years in heavy civil and related functions plus thorough knowledge of civil construction industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience considered. Excellent skills in P6 scheduling software and excellent computer skills Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, On Center OST, and MS Project. High energy level and the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Understands and abides by all government processes and regulations.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to @type, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
