About Career and Professional Development
Career & Professional Development (CPD) empowers students and alumni to explore, prepare for, and pursue meaningful careers through personalized guidance, experiential learning, and employer engagement. Its purpose is to bridge academic experiences with professional opportunities, fostering lifelong career success and industry connections. CPD is one of five offices on campus providing career development services to a diverse community of DU students and alumni. CPD serves all the undergraduate programs (except the Daniels College of Business), College of Professional Studies, multiple graduate programs, and alumni not served by the other career services offices on campus.
Position Summary
As part of the University's strategic goal to prepare students for the future of work, and in alignment with the innovative 4-Dimensional student experience, the University of Denver is increasing focus on experiential and work-based learning. The Experiential Learning team within Career & Professional Development (CPD) will offer programs and services to help students achieve their career-related experiential learning goals and will prepare faculty and staff to support them. The Assistant Director of Experiential Learning will play a key role in planning and implementing programming and provide broader support according to the needs of students and data on student engagement and workforce trends. The position reports to the Director of Experiential Learning at CPD within the Academic Affairs Division
Essential Functions
Plan and execute programs for professional development of students in experiential learning, including the Student Employees Achieve (SEA) badge, job fairs, National Student Employment Week, and Student Employment awards.
Contributes to the maintenance and improvement of systems for student employment and internships, including managing postings and e-learning opportunities
Manage communications and marketing strategy for the team through newsletters, outreach, and social media in collaboration with broader Career & Professional Development efforts
Represent the team on working groups including the PCO User Group and at information events like Journey to DU and Discoveries Orientation
Support data analysis and reporting on student success measures including retention, graduation, and career outcomes of students participating in experiential learning
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of experiential learning, career development, leadership development, or related fields
Strong event planning and presentation skills to deliver effective professional development programs related to career skill development to all levels of employees and management including online presentations
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills including ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain good working relationships both inside and outside of the division.
Customer-focused orientation with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
Solid skills in marketing and communications in the higher ed @context, especially building student engagement with programming.
Ability to clean, gather, and analyze data to inform programmatic decisions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Relevant professional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
2-4 years of work experience.
Professional experience in experiential learning, career development, leadership development, or related fields.
Experience working with college students or related youth development experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with event and program planning in higher education or a similarly complex environment with multiple audiences.
Experience working with data and using it to inform decisions.
Working Environment
Standard office environment.
Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
Noise level is quiet to moderate.
Physical Activities
Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. In accordance with the University's flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

The salary grade for the position is 10.
Salary Rate:
The salary rate for this position is $69,938.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
