Upcoming Opportunity - Senior Product Designer
As a Senior Product Designer at Choice Hotels, you'll own the design of a targeted initiative within a Product Team. You won't be handed decisions to "make pretty"; you'll be in the room from the first conversation, shaping what gets built through the customer's lens.
Your job is to ensure what we build is something customers can actually use and want to use, while driving product and business outcomes. That takes deep customer knowledge, rapid prototyping, and the judgment to know when a solution is ready to ship.
You're the person the team looks to for whether this product actually works for the customers who use it through every interaction and every workflow.
What You'll Do
Customer Research & Discovery. You'll spend real time with customers, not just testing finished designs, to uncover needs they can't articulate. You'll turn that research, along with analytics and feedback, into design strategies that shape the product's direction, and lead discovery sessions.
Prototyping & Ideation. Sketch, wireframe, and proto@type at varying fidelity, from napkin sketches to interactive proto@types, testing concepts with customers before engineering commits. You'll craft user journeys balancing their needs with brand, technical and business constraints.
Design Craft & Systems. You'll take work from low-fidelity exploration to production-ready UI, holding usability and visual polish to a high bar, since a confusing solution is a failure even if functional.
Collaboration & Communication. You'll partner with Product Managers and Tech Leads as equals, with solutions emerging from all three perspectives. You'll clearly document intent and edge cases for engineering, and present strategic design recommendations to stakeholders.
Problem Solving & Analysis. You'll tackle complex, often ambiguous design problems independently, using data and research, while knowing when to bring in peers or leadership for high-stakes calls. You'll follow through after launch, iterating on evidence, and proactively look for ways to improve journeys and conversion.
What We're Looking For
You have deep mastery of human-centered design and systems thinking, with a track record of owning design end-to-end from problem definition through delivery. You translate design thinking into strategy-aligned solutions.
You conduct your own research, not just consume others' findings, and can point to specific customers and insights that changed your designs. You're an advocate for usability and accessibility while tying user value to the product vision and outcomes.
You're advanced in production-ready design, with strong interaction and visual skills you treat as one discipline. You also know enough about frontend constraints to design realistically and partner well with engineering.
You navigate value, usability, feasibility, and viability trade-offs with your Product Manager and Tech Lead, working independently while checking in with your manager on complex decisions. You manage multiple workstreams and surface ambiguity early.
You communicate clearly in terms of customer outcomes, not just visuals, and your storytelling influences product strategy.
This Isn't the Right Fit If...
If your process requires a fully defined problem statement before you can start, this role will feel uncomfortable. The problem definition is part of your job, not an input to it.
If your experience has primarily been executing on specs, this is a fundamentally different dynamic. Here, you'll be expected to shape what gets built, challenge assumptions, and sometimes tell the team they're solving the wrong problem.
If you see engineering constraints as somebody else's concern, you'll struggle here.
SALARY RANGE:
The salary range for this position is $142,000 to $167,000 annually. In addition to the annual salary, this role is eligible for an annual bonus based on the terms of Choice's Management Incentive Plan (MIP).
