This position is in the Pennsylvania Rates & Regulatory Affairs group. The preferred reporting location is Reading, PA, however other reporting locations will be considered with travel as needed.
Summary of Responsibilities :
Support efforts to ensure that FirstEnergy's Pennsylvania distribution utility (FE PA) receives adequate and timely recovery of their costs
Help shape the overall strategic direction for FirstEnergy through various regulatory proceedings (including supporting the writing of testimony and the discovery process)
Use analytical skills to develop an understanding of various ratemaking concepts, including revenue requirements, cost allocation, cost of service, rate of return, regulatory accounting, and the time value of money
Assist in strengthening the relationship between FE PA and the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) by establishing regulatory rapport with the PUC Staff and other members of the external regulatory community
Assist in the development of regulatory strategies on other regulatory and engineering matters, such as grid modernization and other emerging technologies, line extensions, interconnections, and lighting topics
Support the regional customer service and engineering organizations on matters such as tariff implementation and enforcement, and other customer inquiries
Conduct business-specific research, analyzing data, interpreting results, and making recommendations
Meet the needs of internal and external customers through sound service and responsiveness
Provide analytical support to mid to executive level management
Exercise sound decision making by developing alternatives and recommendations to advance Company positions and improve work processes
Develop effective working relationship with employees within own work group and throughout the FirstEnergy organization
Actively seek formal and informal learning opportunities to better understand evolving regulatory and policy issues
Qualifications at the Rates Analyst III level include:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering / engineering technology, math or related discipline required.
Minimum 4 years relevant work experience required. Relevant work experiences will include analytical, research and relationship building skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word). SAP, Business Explorer, Qlikview, and other data querying tools is a plus.
Must be willing to travel for business to other company locations and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for hearings, meetings and other activities, which may include overnight travel.
Demonstrate a questioning attitude to learn, produce results, and develop relationships.
Strong analytical abilities, including problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making.
Deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Desire to continue to learn and grow.
Qualifications at the Rates Analyst IV level include all of the above plus:
Minimum 7 years relevant work experience required. Relevant work experiences will include high level analytical, research and relationship building skills. Advanced degree is a plus.
