Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) - Express Care Clinic
Northwest Florida Community Hospital is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and patient-focused Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our growing Express Care team. Position Summary:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is responsible for providing comprehensive primary and urgent care services to patients presenting with acute illnesses, minor injuries, and other non-emergency medical conditions. The APRN evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, prescribes medications, educates patients and families, and collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient outcomes. This position promotes excellent patient satisfaction while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and organizational regulations.
Essential Job Duties:
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history and physical examinations.
Diagnose and treat acute illnesses, minor injuries, and common medical conditions.
Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging, and other diagnostic studies.
Prescribe medications and develop individualized treatment plans in accordance with Florida law and organizational protocols.
Perform minor office procedures within the APRN scope of practice.
Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations.
Accurately document patient encounters within the electronic health record (EHR).
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Recognize medical emergencies and initiate appropriate stabilization and transfer when necessary.
Promote quality improvement initiatives, patient safety, and infection prevention practices.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Participate in quality assurance activities and continuing education.
Qualifications:
Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Current Florida APRN license in good standing.
Current national board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP).
Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year of Advanced Practice Provider experience preferred.
Previous experience in Urgent Care, Express Care, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Primary Care strongly preferred.
Experience treating patients across the lifespan is preferred.
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems preferred.
Schedule:
Full-Time
Rotating weekday and weekend shifts
Flexible scheduling based on clinic hours and operational needs
Physical Requirements:
Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the clinic.
Frequently use hands and fingers for patient care procedures and documentation.
Occasionally lift and assist patients .
Ability to respond quickly to urgent patient situations.
Visual acuity sufficient to perform patient assessments and interpret diagnostic results.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and staff.
