Position Description
This position requires effective teaching in the Online DBA program, with a primary emphasis on qualitative research methods. The successful candidate will contribute to doctoral education by teaching courses that support applied business research and evidence-based decision making, including instruction in qualitative research design, data collection, and data analysis.
Beyond research methods, the successful candidate may contribute to core DBA courses such as Global Business Issues, Strategic Marketing Analysis and Applications, and others as needed. The candidate should also be prepared to teach other relevant courses at the graduate or undergraduate level as departmental needs arise. Experience with online or asynchronous instructional delivery is strongly recommended.
The position requires maintaining currency and relevance in the candidate's areas of teaching and research, including research methods and applied business disciplines, through ongoing engagement with current research, industry practices, and emerging technologies, including advancements in artificial intelligence. The position also requires providing service to students, the department, the profession, and the university. Responsibilities may include mentoring doctoral students, supporting their professional development and dissertation work, and contributing to the continued growth of the DBA program.
This position includes an optional opportunity to serve as Director of the DBA Program. The primary responsibility of the position remains teaching in the Online DBA program. Candidates who express interest in the Director role may be considered for a course release and opportunities for administrative experience.
Required Qualifications
A terminal degree ( DBA or PhD) in business or a closely related field from an AACSB -accredited institution.
At least five years of experience in a professional, academic, or applied research role.
Demonstrated expertise in qualitative research methods and their application in business or organizational @contexts.
The successful candidate must be qualified as a Practice Academic (PA) or Scholarly Practitioner (SP) in accordance with AACSB and Texas State University standards (available athttps://www.mccoy.txst.edu/faculty-staff/faculty-resources/policies-procedures/college/cbapps-5-07.html).
Preferred Qualifications
Prior teaching experience in graduate or doctoral-level programs.
Experience with qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS .ti, MAXQDA ).
Experience with online or hybrid teaching environments and asynchronous instructional design.
Familiarity with quantitative research approaches and experience conducting applied research in business or organizational @contexts.
Demonstrated engagement with industry, executive education, or applied research settings.
Content Breadth:Ability to contribute to DBA curriculum areas such as global business, strategic marketing, etc.
Leadership Potential:Interest in or experience with academic program leadership and/or graduate program leadership, including curriculum development, accreditation processes (e.g., AACSB ), or managing stakeholder relationships.
