Role summary:
As a Software Engineer II, you will deliver high-quality software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain scalable applications and services. This role involves driving the full software development lifecycle, including coding, testing, deployment, and monitoring, while integrating AI and machine learning components. About the team:
The Sam's Fraud Engine team develops and maintains the Fraud Decisioning Engine that safeguards Sam's Club transactions across E-Commerce, Club, and Contact Center channels. The team applies advanced techniques including AI/ML, knowledge graphs, and heuristic rules to deliver high-performance fraud detection. Members collaborate closely to design, implement, and enhance scalable, reliable solutions. The team values continuous improvement, technical excellence, and effective problem solving to protect customers and the business. This environment fosters innovation through the integration of cutting-edge technologies and promotes shared ownership of quality and results.
What you'll do:
Develop, test, and deliver software features and AI/ML components in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using languages such as Python, JavaScript, and others.
Participate in design discussions, translating requirements into scalable and secure technical solutions.
Conduct code reviews, debugging, and quality assurance to ensure high standards.
Automate repetitive tasks and implement telemetry for monitoring application performance.
Provide technical guidance to small engineering groups and support continuous integration and deployment processes.
Engage stakeholders to define problems and measure solution success through metrics.
What you'll bring:
Proficiency in object-oriented programming and documentation-based coding practices to ensure modular, maintainable software.
Experience developing, testing, and deploying software using languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Rust, Dart, or C++.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
Familiarity with continuous integration, automated testing, and quality assurance processes.
Ability to integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools to enhance development efficiency.
Experience with code review, debugging, and maintaining application performance using monitoring tools.
Effective collaboration skills to work across teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

The annual salary range for this position is $104,000.00 - $202,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).
