JOB TITLE: Assistant Senior Civil Clerk JOB CODE: 0258 DEPARTMENT: Prothonotary UNION: 05 FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt GRADE: 4

POSITION SUMMARY:

After proper instructions, performs routine clerical tasks operating a computer. Typing usage may vary; however, both typing and computer usage require previous training. Work may include the receiving and handling of money and the operation of standard office equipment for which no previous training is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Indexes new cases efficiently and timely determining the criteria for filing documents as mandated by the rules of Court

Processes filing of all original civil cases.

Possess prior knowledge of civil documents and civil laws as well as local rules.

Assists attorneys and general public with questions regarding the office.

Process mail received daily in office, answers telephone and other related miscellaneous office duties

Processes passport applications

Process normal routine technical requirement of the office

Operates office equipment as required.

Coordinates work in the office through legal interpretation of documents.

Must be able to work effectively with the public.

May be required to perform additional work that follows prescribed or well established procedures that can be learned within a reasonable time with on-the-job training. More detailed instructions will be given to employees at the beginning of work.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Must possess good computer skills.

Previous knowledge of legal documents and their procedures.
