What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.
Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This role ensures the accurate, timely, and efficient delivery of products to customers while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with experience in logistics, warehouse operations, people leadership, and continuous improvement.
Location: This is an on-site position (5 days a week) based out of Cardinal Health's Hudson, WI distribution center
Shift: Supporting Sunday-Thursday Night Shift operations (6:00 PM-2:30 AM or until completion) however, schedule is based on operational needs
Responsibilities:
Strategic Operations Management
Lead and optimize daily outbound distribution operations, including order fulfillment, picking, packing, and shipping.
Ensure customer and partner orders are processed accurately, on time, and within budget while maintaining high service levels and operational efficiency.
Team Leadership & Development
Provide leadership, coaching, and development for a team consisting of 3 direct-report supervisors and approximately 75 indirect-report associates.
Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying, implementing, and sustaining process enhancements through Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies.
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve productivity, quality, accuracy, and service performance.
Safety Leadership & Compliance
Champion a culture of safety by ensuring all training, procedures, and workplace practices comply with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Proactively identify and mitigate risks while maintaining compliance with OSHA, DEA, FDA, state, and local regulations.
Serve as the primary shift contact for Quality and Compliance, and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) matters.
Regulatory & Policy Adherence
Ensure strict adherence to all company policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards within a highly regulated healthcare distribution environment.
Promote compliance and accountability across all levels of the operation.
Financial & Resource Management
Manage labor planning, staffing, scheduling, and operational expenses to achieve productivity, service, and budget objectives.
Monitor financial metrics and resource utilization to support business needs and operational performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Technology Utilization
Partner closely with inventory, inbound operations, transportation, quality, and other cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.
Leverage Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency, visibility, and performance.
Stakeholder Engagement & Business Participation
Actively participate in internal and external business meetings, contribute to strategic initiatives, and support organizational objectives.
Travel up to 10% as required to support business operations and leadership responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
5+ years of experience leading operational teams, managing performance, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement preferred
Minimum of 3 years of progressive supervisory or management experience, with a proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate teams to achieve organizational goals
Possesses strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively lead and manage change within the organization
Experience working within a warehouse (or distribution) environment, preferred
Inventory planning and processing experience, preferred
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel (Pivot Tables and spreadsheets)
Experience working within ERP's (SAP or Manhattan), preferred
Prior experience with continuous improvement projects and initiatives
Adaptable to operational needs
Ability to problem solve through complex scenarios and drive change
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to bend, reach, stoop, lift and stand for entire shift
Proficiency in English is required, including being able to read and write in English in order to process documents

Anticipated salary range : $87,700.00 - $125,300.00
