This position will be used to fill two (2) vacancies.
The Metro Facility Operations Specialist provides operational and logistical support for Facilities Management services across Minnesota Department of Health facilities. This position coordinates workstation, office, conference room, and collaboration space functionality to ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused workplace operations. Supports agency-wide space reconfiguration projects, workplace standards, vendor coordination, furniture and equipment deployment, and operational continuity across MDH locations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Coordinates the provisioning, installing, and maintaining IT equipment, chairs, other furniture, in workstations and offices, in all MDH buildings portfolio to ensure operational readiness and consistency with agency workplace standards.
Supports the operational functionality of conference rooms and collaboration spaces by coordinating troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and vendor services to ensure reliable hybrid meeting capabilities and workplace technology functionality.
Coordinates agency signage operations and workplace supply services to support safe, organized, and efficient facility operations across Metro office locations.
Provides operational and logistical support for agency space reconfiguration initiatives, workplace moves, furniture deployment, and facilities-related projects across MDH locations.
This position is 100% In Office Work. The Location is Freeman Building - St. Paul, MN.
MDH relies heavily on grant funding, in addition to state appropriated dollars. As an agency, we continually monitor funding levels and navigate some degree of uncertainty related to grant cycles and the impact of the grant funding on program priorities.
This position is currently funded and approved to be filled. While the position is funded at this time, future funding is dependent on the continuation of our funding sources. The Minnesota Department of Health works proactively to sustain programs and maintain our workforce, to avoid reductions in force to the very best of our ability. In the event of a loss of funding resulting in a necessary workforce reduction, that process is governed by our collective bargaining agreements and compensation plans.
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of experience performing operational and logistical work related to office management, asset management and/or project management. Experience must include the following:
Experience working in Microsoft Suites, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Experience in data entry.
Experience troubleshooting basic IT or software issues.
AND
A Valid Class D Driver's license, as this position will drive state owned vehicles.
Minimum Qualifications to be assessed at interview:
Knowledge of safe transport with equipment and installation of furniture.
Ability to be detailed and accurate with chain of custody accountability for sensitive deliveries, independently prioritize operational logistical tasks and maintain operation continuity during operational surges.
Customer service skills that are sufficient to be responsive, professional, and courteous.
Ability to be organized, efficient, well-versed, customer service oriented, solution focused, and ability to multi-task when competing priorities arise.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of vendor delivery procedures, chain of custody requirements, shipment tracking systems, PRISM, SWIFT, postal procedures, inventory systems, and customer service practices.
Knowledge of purchasing liaison protocols, MNIT Service partnership protocols, workstation standards, and conference room services.
Advanced level of knowledge to troubleshoot issues related to technology and software.
Physical Requirements
Ability to transport, install and move up to 40 pounds consistently.
Ability to move throughout the building to move furniture, set up conference rooms and set up workstations.

This position requires successful completion of a background check and employment reference check.
