What you'll do...
About the Team
Walmart International Tech builds the eCommerce platforms that serve hundreds of millions of customers across Walmart's global markets. Our TPM organization is the connective tissue that makes it move - embedded across the domains where delivery decisions have the most direct impact on customer experience and GMV. We are a distributed team spanning Sunnyvale and the India Development Center, and we take the TPM discipline seriously as a craft. About the Role
We are looking for a Sr. Director of Technical Program Management to own delivery, develop talent, and set the operating standard across strategic engineering domains within International Ecommerce. This role reports directly to the Group Director of International Ecommerce Technical Program Management. This leader will partner with VP and SVP counterparts in Engineering and Product, operate with executive visibility, and build the team and frameworks that make complex, cross-functional delivery predictable at International Tech scale.
This is not a coordination role. You will navigate ambiguity, shape technical strategy, and be accountable for outcomes - not just status. What You'll Do
Build and lead the TPM organization - Develop and retain a high-performing team of TPMs across Sunnyvale and IDC. Define career paths, invest in growth, and build a team that others want to join.
Own the program portfolio - Establish quarterly planning cadences, portfolio health visibility, and executive reporting across International Ecommerce. Leaders are never surprised; trade-offs are always explicit.
Shape technical strategy - Partner with Engineering VPs and Principal/Distinguished Engineers to influence multi-year roadmaps, challenge assumptions, and ensure delivery plans are grounded in real capacity and platform constraints.
Drive cross-functional alignment - Manage dependencies across teams and markets, architect scalable governance and escalation frameworks, and build the operating muscle that keeps complex programs moving without creating bureaucracy.
Translate complexity into executive clarity - Turn highly ambiguous, multi-dimensional program situations into clear, data-driven narratives that enable fast, high-quality decisions at the VP/SVP level.
Elevate the craft - Set the standard for how TPM operates across your portfolio. Mentor, define hiring bar, and continuously raise the quality of execution discipline across the team.
What You'll Bring
12+ years of experience in technical program management or engineering leadership, including a demonstrated track record of delivering large-scale, cross-functional programs with complex technical dependencies.
5+ years leading teams, including Director-level or Distinguished-level reports, in a matrixed, multi-geography environment.
Technical depth sufficient to partner credibly with Principal and Distinguished Engineers on architecture decisions, capacity trade-offs, and system design risk.
Domain experience in one or more areas of International Ecommerce platform delivery.
Multi-geo leadership - comfort managing distributed teams across the US and IDC, including asynchronous collaboration across significant time zones.
Executive communication - ability to distill highly complex situations into crisp, fact-based insights and drive decisions, not just report them.
You'll Sweep Us Off Our Feet If You...
Have led a TPM organization through a scaling inflection - a platform transformation, major market expansion, or significant org change - and built the operating structure that made it stick.
Move fluently between a deep architecture conversation in the morning and an executive briefing in the afternoon without losing substance in either direction.
Have coached someone into a role they didn't know they were ready for.
Have a point of view on what great looks like in International Ecommerce delivery - and use that conviction to sharpen roadmaps and raise the bar.
Success in This Role Looks Like
Portfolio Delivery - Programs ship on time and on scope, trade-offs are made explicitly, and engineering velocity is protected.
Technical Credibility - Engineering and Product partners trust your judgment. TPM is a force multiplier, not overhead.
Talent Pipeline - The team grows. People point to this leader as someone who invested in them.
Executive Transparency - Risks surface early with clear paths forward. No surprises.
Servant Leadership - Teams feel unblocked and supported. They navigate ambiguity confidently because you've done the work to make the path clear.
