Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to support a contract assignment based in Wolcott, New York. This Contract position will play a key role in strengthening day-to-day accounting operations, improving consistency across core financial processes, and providing hands-on leadership in a largely in-office environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to guide month-end activities, reconciliations, and audit-related preparation with confidence.

Responsibilities:

Direct month-end accounting activities, ensuring financial records are finalized accurately and within established deadlines.

Maintain oversight of the general ledger and review entries to support complete and reliable financial reporting.

Prepare and approve journal entries, account analyses, and supporting documentation for routine accounting transactions.

Perform detailed account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding balance issues promptly.

Coordinate audit support by organizing financial schedules, responding to auditor requests, and validating supporting records.

Evaluate current accounting procedures and recommend practical process improvements that strengthen control and consistency.

Provide accounting guidance and operational oversight to help establish effective workflows and standard practices.

Support a predominantly on-site team environment while managing records and documentation that rely heavily on paper-based files. Requirements - At least 3 years of accounting experience, including responsibility for oversight of core accounting functions.

Demonstrated expertise in month-end close, general ledger management, and account reconciliation.

Experience preparing journal entries and reviewing supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Familiarity with financial statement audit preparation and responding to audit-related requests.

Ability to assess existing accounting processes and help develop structured, repeatable procedures.

Strong analytical skills with careful attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

Comfortable working primarily in-office, with limited remote flexibility of up to 1-2 days when appropriate.
