Integrated community Planning of Oswego County, Inc located in Oswego, NY is looking for a full time Business/Finance Specialist

Summary of Position Responsible for supporting the agency's financial record keeping operations. Provides business-focused support to child care programs in Oswego County.

Dimensions of Job The Business/Finance Specialist is responsible for assisting with financial tracking and compliance with funding requirements. This position is responsible for training and technical assistance for child care providers and meeting their business needs.

Nature and Scope This position is a technical and clerical assignment and requires guidance from funding sources. Contact is internal with employees, and external with child care providers, office suppliers.

Principle Accountabilities

Assist with the use QuickBooks accounting software to maintain all agency fiscal records according to generally acceptable accounting practices. Follow the financial policies established by the Board of Directors.

Assist with managing the deposit of all income received and payment of all expenses incurred.

Assist with preparing program vouchers using expense splits.

Assist with preparing monthly voucher reports with appropriate documentation for all agency programs.

Assist in the preparation of monthly journal entries of general ledger, checkbook register and financial statements for agency and programs monthly.

Purchase office supplies and maintain postage meter and copier contracts.

Maintain a petty cash account.

Assess the business needs of qualified child care programs/providers and develop/deliver customized training and technical assistance as outlined by OCFS.

Support providers through means such as letters/mailings, phone calls, emails, virtual and in-person sessions to ensure needs are met, and document technical assistance according to Agency policy.

Field transferred hotline calls from the NYS Human Services Call Center (HSCC) from providers in need of assistance.

Participate in training and review training guides and materials to be able to assist providers in completing applications, record-keeping, and business practices.

Complete NYS Mandated Reporter Training; report suspicions of child abuse and maltreatment in a manner that meets OCFS and Agency policy.

Assist with all other duties assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications

Associates or Bachelors degree in business or accounting with at least two years direct responsibility for budget preparation and management preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience in office management, bookkeeping or related fields will be considered.

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and expertise in budgeting required.

Ability to work both independently and as a team member.

Demonstrated computer, database, and data report skills.

Strong QuickBooks and Excel computer skills preferred.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Outstanding customer service skills.

Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Valid drivers license, access to a reliable vehicle and ability to travel for site visits and meetings.

Pay Rate

$23.00 - $25.00 per hour
