Summary You will serve as a FABRIC WORKER in the TEMPORARY SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Kittery, ME Salary WG-10 -$37.68-$43.96 San Diego, CA Salary WG-10- $31.91-$37.19 Responsibilities You will use a variety of sensitive, calibrated, and precision trade specific instruments and equipment. You will identify staging and scaffolding needs that are adequate for the enclosure to identify any interference in the area. You will design, fabricate, inspect, install, remove, and maintain nuclear and non-nuclear containments and enclosures. You will serve as the journeyman Fabric Worker/Containment Fabricator. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: Plans, organizes, coordinates, and implements numerous quality-related requirements as they relate to design, fabrication, inspection, installation, and removal for both off-hull and in-hull enclosures. Assesses complex containment needs depending on the area located and the hazards involved. Determines and develops the fabrication, methods taken, materials needed to create and install, layout work and equipment used for preparation and construction of radiological and non-radiological barriers and enclosures. Uses complex equipment and calibration instruments to prepare and manufacture containment. *Selects, cuts, shapes, joins, bonds, fits, and assembles containments.
