Job Title: Assembly Operator III

Future Location: Arden, NC
Shift: 2nd Shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
Pay Rate: $24.20/hour ($22.00 base + 10% shift differential)
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Assembly Operator III to support the manufacturing of fiber optic components and cable assemblies. This role is responsible for precision assembly, termination, and testing of fiber optic products in a cleanroom environment.
This position will initially be based in Fairview, NC and will transition to Arden, NC in the future. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who performs well under schedule pressures, adapts to shifting priorities, and maintains a strong focus on quality and customer satisfaction. This individual may also support new product introduction (NPI) and assist in process development.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble, polish, and test fiber optic connectors and cable assemblies
Terminate single-fiber and multi-fiber optic cables
Package finished components according to specifications
Operate fiber routers and perform over-molding processes as needed
Support proto@type builds, test builds, and pre-release NPI production
Measure components using calipers, gauges, and precision tools
Maintain accurate production documentation for product traceability
Perform EFG and IPC workmanship inspections
Inspect work using blueprints, job routers, and quality standards
Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic repairs
Maintain cleanroom standards, including proper gowning and contamination control
Follow all safety guidelines, company policies, and procedures
Recommend and support process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency
Communicate effectively within a team to meet production goals
Work independently with limited supervision after training period
Support overtime as needed based on production requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or GED preferred
Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience required
Fiber optic manufacturing experience preferred
Familiarity with SAP Manufacturing systems and ISO 9001 standards preferred
Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for intricate assembly work
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
Experience using hand tools and microscopes preferred
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Effective time management and ability to multitask
Team-oriented with strong communication skills
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing required PPE (gown, gloves, hairnet, safety glasses, etc.)
Must be able to handle small, delicate components under a microscope
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time
Ability to operate manufacturing equipment and move between workstations
Must be able to read and understand written instructions in English
