GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Incumbents of position in this series works in repairing, overhauling, and servicing fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, tractors, boats, ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, landscape equipment; estimate cost of repairs, requisitions and supplies, and keeps records of work done, performs related work as required. Participates in the repairing, overhauling, and servicing fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, tractors, boats, ATVs, UTVs, snowmobiles, and landscape equipment. 2. Adjusts and repairs brakes, carburetors, hydraulic pumps, cylinder heads, valves and similar automotive components. 3. Repair and overhaul equipment of increasing complexity such as bulldozers, backhoes, and other heavy equipment. 4. Performs periodic motor equipment inspections and services for state vehicles by changing and repairing tires, adjusting brakes, replacing fluids, cleaning and lubricating parts. 5. Performs service and repairs on small equipment such as chainsaws, brush saws, line trimmers. 6. Retrieve automotive parts and supplies from vendors. ASE certifications (not required). Experience maintaining municipal, state, construction, or fleet vehicles. Manage garage operations and fleet maintenance activities. Experience using fleet maintenance management software, such as RTA Fleet Management Software (RTA360). Entering labor hours, parts usage, preventive maintenance schedules, and repair histories into fleet management systems. Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class B Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class C or hoisting license. First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the repair, maintenance and overhaul of automotive equipment such as automobiles, trucks, bulldozers, cranes, front end loaders, etc. of which (B) at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A certificate or diploma from a recognized trade, technical or vocational school, at the high school level or above, with a major in automotive shop practice may be substitution for one year of the required (A) experience. Special Requirements: Based on assignment: 1. Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class B Motor Vehicle Operator's License. 2.
