Job Description
This role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing production equipment and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment that specializes in spice production. The electrician ensures reliable operation of blenders, scaling systems, sifters, mills, and packaging machinery while working with a range of electrical voltages and interpreting technical documentation to support safe and efficient plant operations.
Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair production equipment, including blenders, scaling systems, sifters, hammer mills, roller mills, and vertical form filling machines.
Maintain and repair electrical systems operating at 120V, 220V, and 480V to ensure safe and reliable performance.
Perform breakdown analysis and diagnostics on machinery and electrical systems to identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
Interpret and work from blueprints, electrical schematics, drawings, and samples to install, modify, or repair equipment and wiring.
Use PLC troubleshooting techniques to identify and resolve control system issues in industrial equipment.
Perform wiring, rewiring, and electrical component replacements in accordance with applicable codes and safety standards.
Conduct preventive maintenance on production machinery and electrical systems to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
Utilize welding skills to support maintenance and repair of equipment and infrastructure as needed.
Perform plumbing work with PVC, copper, and metal pipes to support production and facility systems.
Operate forklifts and scissor lifts safely to access equipment and perform maintenance tasks at various heights.
Work safely in confined spaces, on ladders, and on elevated platforms while following all safety procedures.
Handle, move, and position equipment, bags, and drums weighing up to 100 lbs as part of maintenance and repair activities.
Communicate clearly with team members and other departments to convey detailed instructions and updates on maintenance activities.
Respond to occasional after-hours calls for emergency maintenance needs.
Complete other maintenance and repair duties as assigned to support continuous plant operations.
Essential Skills
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum 3 years of experience maintaining and repairing production machinery.
Minimum 3 years of experience troubleshooting electrical systems and reading electrical schematics.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills in an industrial environment.
Ability to maintain and repair electrical systems at 120V, 220V, and 480V.
Experience with PLC troubleshooting in an industrial setting.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Professional welding ability suitable for maintenance and repair work.
Plumbing experience with PVC, copper, and metal pipes.
Forklift operation experience.
Scissor lift operation experience.
Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry heavy products and equipment up to 100 lbs frequently.
Ability to walk long distances within a manufacturing facility.
Ability to climb on and off forklifts occasionally.
Ability to work in confined spaces safely.
Ability to extend arms overhead or at shoulder height for tasks.
Strong manual dexterity to hold, grasp, turn, touch, pick up, and pinch using hands and fingers.
Ability to kneel, stoop, and bend downwards and forward for extended periods as needed.
Ability to ascend and descend ladders and platforms safely.
Ability to stand, work, and walk at heights on platforms at least six feet or higher.
Clear verbal communication skills to express and exchange ideas and convey detailed instructions.
Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and machinery sounds, including alarms.
Near and far visual acuity sufficient to read schematics, labels, and observe equipment conditions.
Ability to work effectively in noisy, dusty environments that may contain spices and high heat intensity.
Ability to tolerate working in both cold and hot temperatures for long periods of time.
Ability to read and write English to follow procedures, safety guidelines, and documentation.
Willingness and ability to work occasional overtime and weekends as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Journeyman electrician license preferred.
HVAC experience preferred.
Experience with PLC programming is a plus.
Experience working with industrial electrical systems and control panels.
Familiarity with industrial schematics and wiring diagrams.
Comfort working in a spice manufacturing or similar food production environment.
Strong attention to safety and adherence to established safety procedures.
Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to equipment reliability.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
