Job Description
This role supports electrical engineering activities across manufacturing, product development, and continuous improvement initiatives under the guidance of senior engineering leadership. The electrical engineer plays a key role in cryocooler production, process development, and product enhancements, working closely with engineering, production, quality, and project management teams. This position suits a well-rounded engineer with strong initiative who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and enjoys both hands-on work and structured process improvement.
Responsibilities
Support daily activities for the electrical engineering team, including coordinating tasks, assisting with scheduling, tracking inventory, and preparing or maintaining reports.
Act as a liaison between engineering, production, quality, project management, customers, and vendors to ensure clear communication and alignment on technical and production requirements.
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across departments to support timely and successful project execution.
Provide hands-on support for the production of electronic controllers and related hardware to help meet manufacturing schedules and production targets.
Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware failures, perform root cause analysis, and support implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Perform and guide repairs, redesign efforts, and component substitutions, including managing component obsolescence and identifying suitable alternatives.
Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to support custom hardware solutions and meet specific customer requirements.
Ensure that all work complies with applicable quality standards and established ISO 9001 procedures.
Support the transition of new products from engineering into production by helping to define, refine, and stabilize manufacturing processes.
Develop, maintain, and update process documentation, procedures, and work instructions to ensure consistent and repeatable manufacturing practices.
Troubleshoot manufacturing and process-related issues to improve efficiency, consistency, and overall product quality.
Contribute to design updates, modifications, and new feature development for electronic controllers and related hardware.
Support testing, compliance, and certification activities to ensure products meet relevant standards and customer requirements.
Participate in configuration control activities and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering within a manufacturing, product development, or hardware support environment.
Strong ability to troubleshoot electronic hardware and identify failure modes, including hands-on diagnostics and root cause analysis.
Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments, including builds, repairs, and process support for electronic hardware.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and related technical documentation.
Experience using ECAD tools to support hardware design, review, or modification.
Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles as applied to hardware, PCB design, and electronic controllers.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with lean manufacturing or process improvement methodologies; related certifications are a plus.
Experience managing hardware flow to meet production schedule demands, including coordination of builds and repairs.
Experience troubleshooting both hardware and software and identifying complex failure modes in integrated systems.
Experience working within ISO 9001, AS 9100, or other relevant Quality Management Systems.
General familiarity with laboratory equipment, standard lab processes, and applicable safety measures.
Experience with PCB design tools and workflows.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and configuration control processes.
Work Environment
The role operates in a collaborative, cross-functional environment that integrates engineering, production, quality, and project management activities. The electrical engineer works closely with manufacturing teams on the production of electronic controllers and related hardware, supporting both new product introduction and ongoing production. The position involves regular use of ECAD tools, electrical schematics, and standard laboratory and test equipment for troubleshooting, diagnostics, and validation. Work is performed within a structured Quality Management System, including adherence to ISO 9001 procedures, with a strong emphasis on process documentation, consistency, and continuous improvement. The environment is fast-paced and project-driven, requiring flexibility to support shifting priorities, production schedules, and cross-functional communication.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
