As a Chemical Process Engineering Technician at Honeywell , you will play an important role in supporting and improving manufacturing processes used in aerospace products. Working on-site in San Diego and reporting to an Engineering Supervisor, you will collaborate closely with engineering teams to help optimize processes, ensure product quality, and support continuous improvement efforts in a fast-paced production environment.
In this role, you will contribute directly to the efficiency and reliability of critical chemical and manufacturing processes. Your day-to-day work will include setting up and monitoring processing equipment, supporting assembly and test operations for both existing and new products, and assisting with specialized processes such as photolithography (including etching, patterning, and plating). You will also help guide production line operators, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and maintain accurate documentation to support consistent results.
You will conduct process test runs, analyze and present data using charts and reports, and work with engineering teams to identify yield issues and support new product introduction. This position involves hands-on technical work of moderate complexity, where you will provide valuable assistance to process development and engineering personnel while helping maintain high standards of performance, quality, and safety.

Experience working with chemicals (acids, bases, cyanides, oxidizers, plating solutions) from handling to analysis of solutions
Develop, organize, and maintain work instructions, aids, travelers, and operation instructions
Maintain laboratory practices and apply laboratory experience to support testing and analysis
Review current documentation pertaining to the department and develop Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) as required
Evaluate department processes and procedures; update as required and take corrective action to improve product yield
Improve and maintain 5S in your area and make suggestions for continuous improvement
Participate in Lean/Six Sigma activities in own work area and cross-functional events to enhance problem solving
Collaborate in team meetings and activities, including SET team support as appropriate
Support Engineering with evaluations, experimental tests, and technical analysis
Utilize characterization tools and measurement devices such as profilometers, ohm meters, LCR and impedance meters, and XRF
Disposition rejected material by developing and documenting rework instructions
Review lot acceptance test data for conformance to requirements
Train operators and ensure understanding and adherence to established procedures
Collaborate with Maintenance and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) to define and optimize preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and improve equipment performance and capability
Perform other related duties as assigned
The annual base salary range for this position is $42.29 - $52.85per hour. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. This position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance in accordance with 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM.) YOU MUST HAVE
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a laboratory environment
Minimum of two (2) years of experience handling chemicals
Minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting process engineering, including updating procedures and work instructions
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, process procedures, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following process areas: photoresist development, etching, or thin film plating methods
Must be eligible to access technology, materials, software, or hardware controlled by U.S. export laws (must qualify as a "U.S. Person" or be eligible for a U.S. Government export license)
WE VALUE
Certificate in Manufacturing Technology preferred; Associate degree in Business or Manufacturing Technology a plus
Four (4) years of experience in a manufacturing operations support role
Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
Experience relevant to photolithography (3+ years preferred)
Experience with electroplating processes (e.g., gold, nickel, copper, silver)
Experience with lithography and wet etching processes
Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and troubleshooting methodologies
Familiarity with metrology tools and measurement devices such as profilometers, ellipsometers, ohm meters, LCR/impedance meters, and XRF
Experience working in ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 environments
