Summary You will serve as a COMBINED TRADES SUPERVISOR II in the RIGGING AND HANDLING OPERATIONS DIVISION (CODE 740), LIFTING AND HANDLING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will plan, direct, and coordinate the work of subordinate first-level supervisors. You will serve as the final on-site authority for resolving complex technical problems and integration conflicts. You will maintain balanced workloads by directing the shifting of assignments and resources between subordinates. You will exercise second-level, delegated authority for all personnel and administrative functions. You will provide authoritative information and advice to higher-level supervisors and management officials on the feasibility of work assignments, workload data, and budget estimates. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: Analyzing and approving work plans developed by subordinate trade supervisors, monitoring the status of their work in relation to the overall project schedule, and making adjustments for emergent requirements. Setting deadlines and establishing the critical sequence of work operations to be followed. Planning, directing, integrating, and executing complex, multi-trade structural work essential to submarine and ship, repair, and modernization. Developing and executing long-range work plans and integrated production schedules on a quarterly and project duration basis. Determining the resources, materials, equipment, and skilled personnel required to accomplish long-range project schedules.
