GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Are you interested in a career in human services, youth development, social work, psychology, criminal justice, education, or behavioral health? The Wyoming Boys' School offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience while helping young people build brighter futures.
As anOvernight Youth Services Aide (10:00 PM - 8:00 AM), you will work directly with adjudicated male youth ages 12-21 in a structured residential setting. You'll help maintain a safe and supportive environment, supervise daily activities, model positive behaviors, and encourage youth to develop accountability, life skills, and responsible decision-making.
This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping others, interested in youth rehabilitation, and looking to build a foundation for a rewarding career in a helping profession.
What We're Looking For
An interest in human services, youth development, education, criminal justice, psychology, social work, or behavioral health
The ability to remain calm, professional, and consistent in challenging situations
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A willingness to learn behavior management and intervention techniques
Experience working with youth is helpful but not required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.
Utilizes cameras and physical visual checks to monitor students while sleeping, maintaining these checks frequently.
Documents unusual events.
Monitors physical plant, focusing on safety issues.
During morning hours, assists in preparing the students for cleaning, breakfast, hygiene, collecting urinalysis, physical training/educational group activities, and school.
Provide support and assistance to students.
Completes building & perimeter checks frequently.
Promptly responds to emergencies or crises.
Applies physical and non-physical intervention skills in crises where students are hostile, aggressive, and in danger of harming themselves, others, and/or property.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to applicants with a high school diploma and one year of work experience with the public or youth. However, anyone interested in an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of youth is encouraged to apply. The Wyoming Boys' School will provide training and mentorship to ensure that new team members have the resources and knowledge to succeed in this role.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of RIGHT RESPONSE principles.
Knowledge of physical and non-physical intervention skills in crises.
Skills in observation, basic report writing, and verbal/non-verbal communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School Diploma
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services)
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None
Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position takes place in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations.
Must remain awake and alert during shift.
Must complete the mandatory State of Wyoming and Wyoming Boys' School Training.

All positions within the Department of Family Services will require a background information check, including the taking of fingerprints, which will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for every successful applicant.
**Qualifying eligibility and criteria for the hiring bonus
Accepting a full-time position
One-time bonus of $1,000.00 -- first installment of hiring bonus for $500.00 will be paid on the last working day of the first month of employment, and the second installment of $500.00 will be paid after completion of six months of employment
Failure to completeone year of service with Wyoming Boys' School will result in a full refund owed to DFS-Wyoming Boys' School from the next or final paycheck.
