Summary The Phoenix VA Health Care System is recruiting for one Supervisory Program Specialist located in the Diagnostic Imaging Service. The incumbent is responsible for the facility wide distribution of images utilizing the (PACS) operations, including but not limited to Integrated Speech Recognition Dictation System, Cardiology PACS and Orthopedic PACS, maintaining security of the local PACS Network and supervise staff that provide PACS support. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develop programs to ensure that quality provisions are planned, developed, and implemented to identify, prevent, and correct unsatisfactory conditions and elements which influence the regulatory correctness and responsiveness of transactions and services. Serve as Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) Program Manager, assuring the work of employees assigned and/or selected to support PACS and/or PACS image management are held accountable for their responsibilities. Monitor the status and work progress, and as well as make adjustment in accordance with the established priorities. Incumbent instructs assigned employees in specific tasks and job techniques. Provide expert advice on specific tasks, procedures, and policies. Coordinate with Veterans Health Information System and Technology Architecture (VistA) Imaging manager for the purpose of validating new procedures and/or equipment with VistA imaging to ensure that all imaging studies are sent to Vista imaging as per VA Directive. Maintain one or more Local Area Network (LAN) systems for PACS, Cardiology PACS, and Orthopedic PACS. Incumbent ensures that PACS network (LAN) systems are properly designed, maintained, and operated to meet local and national standards. Administer daily operations of the Local Area Network (LAN). Maintains user privileges, PACS user IDs/passwords, network access and security schemes following the applicable VISN and National IT security guidelines. Prepare and maintain an up-to-date schematic diagram with layout and location of all equipment, including @type and specifications of all cable, routers, switches, and other telecommunications equipment. Support and participate in the implementation of a PACS Wide Area Network (WAN) system and applications upon its development. Assist on the implementation and administration of Internet service applications including web server, list server, electronic mail, and related services used for either the collection or dissemination of images via the Internet. Install and configure computer systems including PACS, Cardiology PACS, Orthopedic PACS, individual diagnostic and clinical workstations. Develop and maintain state-of-the-art expertise in selected PACS workstation and software packages, including the integrated speech recognition dictation and structured reporting packages in order to assist users. Oversee the daily operation of the unit, ensures that agency policies and priorities are being followed; develops performance standards; and evaluates work performance of subordinates.
