Job Title: Manufacturing Production Supervisor - 3rd Shift
Job Description
This 3rd Shift Manufacturing Production Supervisor role leads overnight operations in a flexible circuit manufacturing environment, overseeing both production and inspection activities. You ensure stable, predictable execution of the shift by managing work-in-progress flow, staffing, training, and quality decisions in a low-support environment with limited off-shift engineering and maintenance coverage. You take full ownership of meeting production targets, maintaining operator readiness, and protecting product quality through strong independent decision-making and consistent follow-through.
Pay: $33-$35/hr (~$70,000/year)
Shift: Thurd (3rd) shift: 8:30pm - 7:30am, Monday - Thursday
Responsibilities
Lead and oversee all production and inspection activities during the 3rd shift to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) flow across all operations, promptly identifying bottlenecks and taking action to maintain throughput.
Drive execution of production goals and ensure all activities align with schedule priorities and customer commitments.
Take immediate corrective action when performance targets are at risk, including adjusting plans and resources to recover performance.
Manage real-time staffing assignments to maintain adequate coverage across production and inspection areas.
Adjust labor allocation based on workload, priorities, and operational constraints to optimize productivity.
Oversee operator training progress and verify readiness for independent work, ensuring skills match operational needs.
Ensure operators consistently follow standardized work, work instructions, travelers, and all process requirements.
Reinforce proper escalation behaviors, including stopping work and escalating issues rather than working through unaddressed problems.
Ensure strict adherence to process requirements and quality standards throughout the shift.
Take ownership of quality containment decisions when issues arise, including isolating suspect product as needed.
Stop production when necessary to protect product quality and prevent nonconforming output.
Independently identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in real time in a low-support environment.
Initiate engineering or maintenance escalation when required and work effectively with limited off-shift support resources.
Ensure effective transition between shifts by communicating status, priorities, and issues so that no information is lost at handoff.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the production team.
Essential Skills
3-5 years of manufacturing experience with progressively increasing responsibility.
Demonstrated ability to manage production activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Prior leadership experience in a Lead or Supervisor role overseeing production teams.
Experience in flexible circuit manufacturing.
Working understanding of both production and inspection processes.
Strong independent decision-making skills, especially in a low-support, off-shift environment.
Proven ability to monitor and manage work-in-progress flow and address bottlenecks.
Capability to manage staffing and labor allocation in real time to meet production goals.
Solid understanding of standardized work, work instructions, travelers, and process adherence.
Strong focus on product quality, including willingness to stop production to protect quality.
Ability to reinforce proper escalation behaviors and lead through issues calmly and decisively.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in production supervision or production management within manufacturing environments.
Experience supervising both production and inspection functions simultaneously.
Familiarity with continuous improvement practices and process stability in manufacturing.
Comfort working overnight or 3rd shift schedules.
Ability to train, coach, and develop operators to achieve independent performance.
Strong ownership mindset with consistent follow-through on actions and commitments.
