This Manufacturing Engineer II role focuses on developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods that align with product specifications, quality standards, and lean manufacturing principles. The position provides technical expertise and hands-on support to manufacturing operations, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement, process optimization, and integration of new product development into production.
Responsibilities
Support and resolve technical issues within manufacturing operations to ensure stable, efficient production.
Implement quality control requirements in close coordination with the Quality Department to maintain and improve product standards.
Document and submit product and process improvements, ensuring changes are clearly recorded and communicated.
Improve product quality and reduce manufacturing costs by maximizing process efficiencies and developing optimal procedures.
Evaluate and assure the ability to cost-effectively manufacture new products before market introduction.
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all manufacturing processes in accordance with established formats.
Develop and maintain effective procedures to ensure all product routings are complete, accurate, and aligned with lean manufacturing initiatives.
Reduce existing manufacturing lead times through process improvement and workflow optimization.
Reduce manufacturing lot sizes to help lower overall inventory levels while maintaining production efficiency.
Minimize material movement within the manufacturing process to streamline workflow and reduce waste.
Integrate new product development with manufacturing processes to shorten the time required to introduce new products to market.
Plan, develop, justify, and submit Capital Equipment Requests (CERs) for new machines and other capital expenditures required for manufacturing.
Lead by example in applying 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Kaizen methodologies across the production environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support manufacturing and engineering objectives.
Essential Skills
Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing engineering or closely related role.
Strong knowledge and practical application of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience in manufacturing process development, process improvement, and process engineering.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints from both manual drawings and AutoCAD or similar CAD documents.
Attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry and documentation.
Excellent knowledge of ERP software for managing manufacturing data and processes.
Proficiency with spreadsheet software and word processing software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Access.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in the fluid power industry and/or a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Experience with Solidworks or other CAD software is preferred.
SAP experience is considered a plus.
Mechatronics or fluid power certification, or a willingness to obtain such certification.
Demonstrated experience with Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement tools.
Strong understanding of manufacturing engineering concepts, including routing development, lot size optimization, and lead time reduction.
Ability to occasionally travel, including driving and overnight stays, as needed for business purposes.
Work Environment
This role is based on-site in an office and manufacturing setting five days per week. The facility is described as very clean, well-organized, and supportive of lean and 5S principles. The work environment includes a fully stocked break room with drinks, food, and snacks available to employees. You will work with modern ERP systems, Microsoft Office tools, and CAD software such as Solidworks, and you will interact closely with production, quality, and engineering teams in a structured, professional setting.
