Job Title: Software Engineer
Job Description
This Software Engineer role focuses on designing and developing high-quality software for medical devices used in laboratory, hospital, and remote environments. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, and documentation, with a strong emphasis on secure, cloud-connected, and embedded systems in regulated healthcare settings.
Responsibilities
Lead software design and development activities across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, architecture, implementation, testing, and deployment.
Design and develop software applications for medical devices used in lab, hospital, and remote environments.
Develop secure, cloud-connected applications that comply with HIPAA and IEC standards.
Integrate software with hardware platforms and troubleshoot hardware, firmware, and software interfaces.
Lead the development of control algorithms and real-time, interrupt-driven communication systems.
Translate user needs and system-level specifications into detailed, testable software requirements.
Design, plan, and oversee the execution of unit, integration, and automated acceptance testing.
Produce and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation in alignment with FDA software design control requirements.
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system testing, validation, and integration activities.
Drive problem-solving for complex technical challenges and contribute to system architecture decisions.
Support multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and regulatory compliance.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
3-6+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
Strong proficiency in C++ and C/C++ development.
Experience with embedded Linux or real-time operating systems (RTOS).
Experience working across firmware and application layers in embedded systems.
Solid understanding of object-oriented design fundamentals.
Strong knowledge of software design principles, system architecture, and development best practices.
Experience developing cloud-connected and/or embedded systems applications.
Experience working in regulated environments such as FDA, IEC, or similar regulatory frameworks.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to lead or mentor engineers and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in MedTech or regulated healthcare environments.
Familiarity with real-time systems, embedded development, or hardware/software integration.
Experience with secure software development and data privacy frameworks, including HIPAA.
Prior experience leading small teams or driving technical initiatives.
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
