What You Will Do :
Guidehouse is seeking a Data Engineer (Senior Consultant) to support a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) data modernization initiative. This role will focus on building and maintaining modern, scalable data pipelines and lakehouse architectures that enable secure, compliant, and high-performance processing of federal health data.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines within Databricks-based environments
Implement and manage medallion (multi-layered lakehouse) data architectures (bronze, silver, gold)
Build scalable data pipelines to process large, complex datasets, including structured and semi-structured data
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data scientists, analysts, SMEs, and CMS stakeholders) to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Ensure data quality, lineage, and governance through validation, monitoring, and documentation
Optimize performance and efficiency of data processing workflows in cloud-based environments
Support data integration and modernization efforts aligned with CMS EIPM objectives
Participate in Agile development practices, including sprint planning and backlog management
What You Will Need :
U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field
A minimum of FOUR (4) years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or related technical roles
Proficiency in Python and SQL for data engineering and transformation workloads
Hands-on experience with Databricks and large-scale data processing environments
Experience developing and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines
Experience working with medallion/lakehouse architectures (bronze, silver, gold)
Experience working with relational and/or distributed data systems, including data modeling
Experience with CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Git-based workflows)
Familiarity with version control and collaboration tools, including Git, Jira, and Confluence
Experience working in Agile development environments
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
What Would Be Nice To Have :
Experience working with healthcare data, such as claims, eligibility, or clinical datasets
Experience supporting CMS, HHS, or other federal health programs
Experience working with state government data programs
Familiarity with data governance, privacy, and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA)
Experience supporting data modernization or cloud migration initiatives
The annual salary range for this position is $85,000.00-$141,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
