Electrical Engineer
This role offers the opportunity to work in an Agile, multidisciplinary engineering environment, contributing to the research, design, development, modification, and evaluation of complex systems and their components, equipment, subsystems, and networks. You will collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines and program personnel to support both new development and legacy programs, helping to upgrade existing technologies and contribute to cutting-edge research and development initiatives.
Responsibilities
Collaborate in an Agile environment with cross-functional engineering teams and program personnel to design, develop, modify, and evaluate complex systems and their components, equipment, subsystems, and networks.
Conduct trade studies to compare design alternatives and recommend optimal technical solutions.
Perform dynamic analyses to assess system performance, stability, and behavior under various operating conditions.
Allocate system-level requirements to subsystems and components and ensure proper requirements traceability throughout the development lifecycle.
Develop algorithms to support system functions, signal processing, control, and other mission-critical capabilities.
Author detailed test procedures to verify that systems and components meet specified requirements.
Verify system and subsystem requirements through integration, testing, and formal verification activities.
Integrate hardware and software components and support system-level integration and test activities in the lab environment.
Perform root cause analysis on defects and anomalies, identify corrective actions, and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, power supplies, function generators, and digital multimeters.
Resolve defects identified during testing and integration, ensuring delivery of high-quality products.
Interface with vendors to coordinate component selection, procurement, and technical issue resolution.
Collaborate directly with customers to clarify requirements, present technical findings, and support program objectives.
Work closely with engineers from other disciplines, including systems engineering, integration, and test, to ensure cohesive system performance.
Support lab-based testing efforts by executing test plans, documenting results, and contributing to continuous improvement of test processes.
Essential Skills
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
Experience working with analog and digital circuits, including design, analysis, or evaluation.
Hands-on testing and troubleshooting skills in a laboratory environment.
Familiarity with common laboratory engineering tools, including logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, digital multimeters, and related support equipment.
Ability to conduct integration testing of hardware and systems.
Capability to perform trade studies, dynamic analyses, and requirements allocation and traceability.
Experience authoring test procedures and verifying requirements through structured test activities.
Ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve technical defects effectively.
Proficiency with troubleshooting tools and methods for analog and digital circuits.
Eligibility for an active U.S. security clearance (Secret or higher) or the ability to obtain an interim clearance, as required for program support.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Work Environment
This position is based on a large engineering campus in the Syracuse, NY area, where a significant portion of the site consists of secured areas supporting sensitive programs. Approximately 1,600 people work at the campus, with more than 700 professionals in engineering. The systems engineering organization includes about 180 team members across areas such as requirements, system integration, system test, and special systems, organized into roughly 10 groups spanning five different business lines. The role offers a structured yet flexible schedule, typically following a 9/80 work pattern, with flexibility in work hours to support both personal and program needs. The environment provides access to well-equipped laboratories that include oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, power supplies, function generators, digital multimeters, and other standard electronic test equipment. You will support both new development programs and legacy systems, working on initiatives that upgrade existing technologies with modern solutions and contribute to new research and development efforts. The position is structured as a full-time, long-term consulting opportunity on-site, with a four-day workweek option (Fridays off) available for those who prefer it. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
