This role provides administrative and customer service support within a disability services department, helping students register, access accommodations, and coordinate exam services. The position focuses on assisting a sensitive student population, managing front-desk inquiries, and supporting coordinators with their caseloads in a professional office environment.
Responsibilities
Assist students within the disability department to complete registration processes accurately and efficiently.
Coordinate exam services for students with disabilities, ensuring accommodations are scheduled and implemented correctly.
Support coordinators with managing their caseloads by handling administrative tasks and follow-up activities.
Serve as the first point of contact at the front desk, directing proctors and all visitors to the appropriate person or resource.
Handle incoming requests and inquiries that do not require director-level intervention, resolving issues promptly when possible.
Assist students in submitting and managing accommodation requests, ensuring all necessary documentation and information are complete.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student services, exams, and accommodations.
Provide courteous and professional customer service to students, staff, and visitors in person, by phone, and via email.
Use Microsoft Office and other office tools to prepare documents, track information, and support daily operations.
Protect confidential information and handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
Essential Skills
Administrative support experience in an office environment.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to assist a sensitive population respectfully and empathetically.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related tools.
Experience providing administrative support in a hospital, doctor's office, or higher education setting.
Familiarity with accommodation requests and processes related to disability services.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and visitors.
Attention to detail and accuracy when handling student information, exam coordination, and documentation.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience working in a hospital, doctor's office, or higher education environment.
Experience working with individuals from sensitive or vulnerable populations.
Comfort working in a front-desk or reception role, directing visitors and managing inquiries.
Demonstrated ability to remain calm, professional, and supportive in potentially stressful situations.
Work Environment
This is an interim office-based assignment of approximately six weeks while a long-term hire is identified for the role. The position operates in a professional disability services or higher education office setting, with regular interaction with students, staff, proctors, and visitors at the front desk. The role involves consistent use of computers and Microsoft Office applications, phone and email communication, and standard office equipment. The environment requires a professional demeanor, respect for confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with students with disabilities and other individuals who may need additional support.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
