The Arc of Cumberland and Perry Counties in Boiling Springs, Shermans Dale, Harrisburg, New Cumberland, and Mechanicsburg, PA is seeking to hire a full-time entry-level Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide direct care for the individuals we serve with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) earn a competitive wage of $17.12/hour plus an additional $1/hour shift differential. Overtime is most often available. Holidays are paid at time and half. You would also be eligible for our generous benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance for full-time staff at NO COST for the employee-only coverage. The lack of services for people with disabilities led a group of parents to band together in 1953 to form The Arc of Cumberland and Perry Counties (CPARC). For decades, children and adults with disabilities were systematically denied educational opportunities, vocational training jobs, housing, and almost every other right and service that people without disabilities took for granted. Today, our staff continues to advocate for people with disabilities; offer tools and training to help families; and ensure that individuals live, work, and play in their community.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP)

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you support people with disabilities to live their best lives as independently as possible. You assist with activities of daily living such as household maintenance, transportation, administration of medications, grocery shopping, meal preparation, personal care, and more. While supporting people with disabilities, you build strong relationships while learning their individual differences in ability, personality, interests, learning, motivation, likes, and dislikes. This helps you to provide the best care. In this position, you find the work of supporting people with disabilities to live amazing lives according to their own needs and desires extremely rewarding!

QUALIFICATIONS

At least 18 years of age

Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle during working hours

Are you punctual and reliable? Can you keep track of multiple tasks and prioritize effectively? Do you have good interpersonal and communication skills? Are you flexible and patient? Are you respectful, discreet with confidential information, and honest? Do you enjoy helping people? If so, you may be perfect for this entry-level human services position!

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full time 40 hours/week position with flexible hours.
