Summary The Chief Information Office manages FS Information Resource environments. This position is responsible for facilitating the coordination with field and Forest Service leadership for all information technology infrastructure, business applications, and information management services. Develops plans for installing, configuring, troubleshooting IT hardware and software. Continually tests hardware and software to determine effects on the efficiency of the hardware and existing software when new software packages are implemented. Participates in the testing of new hardware/software in conjunction with the application developers. Serves as first line technical authority for the assigned PCS and systems within the unit. Defines a customer service culture to ensure that all customers are treated with respect and civility. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Specialized Experience Requirement: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as two or more of the following: Identifying and resolving frequent and regular transmission/communication problems; and/or Assisting in the development of overall functional and systems requirements and specifications; and/or Participating in the testing of new hardware/software. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Education There is no substitution of education for specialized experience.
