Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Responsibilities You will work as a journeyman Heating and Boiler Equipment Mechanic. You will repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of industrial steam, hot water, and forced air heating systems, water softeners, chemical treatment equipment, associated steam piping, water piping, and equipment. You will diagnose and locate malfunctions. You will disassemble, repair, replace, and/or adjust thermostats, pressurestats, humistats, relays, switches, burner, burner controls, dampers, and automatic or electronic control devices. You will disassemble, repair air compressors and related components; steam condensers, steam and hot water generators, traps, relief valves, pumps and motors. You will assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed (e.g., ensure that machine capacities are not exceeded and that tools are properly used). You will check work in progress and when finished check compliance with supervisors' instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. You will answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE to include the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including inspecting and calibrating controls and gauges, lubricating components, examining equipment for wear and tear. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
